i think the best digital camera for a great zoom in your country is Canon SX100
it has 8mp, 10x optical zoom, and its price is very affordable too 220$

I have to buy a digital camera in India with the price range Rs 6000 to Rs 7000 . I have to take indoor snaps and video . The video quality should be good enough .

try to look for Fujifilm F100fd or Fujifilm F200EXR the newer one.

also think of Canon,
do not think of Nikon, it is slow at night shots to focus
do not think of Samsung, it is worst image quality
second only to Casio in baddest quality image.

think of panasonic, but maybe if you think of this, maybe get back to Fujifilm and check why its the best of 2008.

i have Fuji F100fd, my friends like it and two of them bought the same camera too.
