I am thinking about getting a Canon - PowerShot 8.0MP Digital ELPH Camera , Model: SD850IS. I was wondering if anyone has this, and what they think of it. Also, I was wondering if it takes video with sound. Thanks!
Answer
The SD850 IS is a very good ultra compact camera. I own it's predecessor, the SD700 IS and just love it. The IS and other features are cool.
Of course it shoots movies with sound. And quite good movies, at that. But, what compact camera doesn't do that?
Audio quality is not perfect, but good enough.
The only real negative is the very limited manual controls, but if you can live without them, it will be fine. It's meant to be a point & shoot camera, after all.
Oh, and one word of advice...the camera has a lovely metallic body, which looks great, but can get a little slippery. For safety's sake, I would advise you to attach the little hand strap that comes with the camera. I put mine in a snug fitting camera case and use the hand strap to pull it out of the case.
The Lowepro Rezo 15...fits it like a glove, Rezo 20 is slightly bigger.
Check the reviews below...and don't forget to buy a high speed SD card to go with it (1-2GB minimum).

Janochka
I have this camera and I cannot seem to get the flash to not come on. Does anyone know how to do this? When I turn the flash mode off it still turns on automatically.
Answer
i have the SD900IS. when you turn off the flash to take pictures and turn off the camera when your done and you turn it back on, the flash will be on again. to turn if off all the time, switch to MANUAL mode which is the M and set it off that way.
