I knw a lil about digital cameras but ive always had kodaks i want to try something different now megapixels is not the main the optical zoom is what u should worry about i jus dont know what company to go with. Samsung,sony,canon or nikon

Personally, I would go with Canon. They have been in the camera business for a long time now and they always have high marks for their products. I had one of their digital cameras and it performed as advertised with exceptional results. Panasonic is another company that produces good cameras. During to my recent research for a new camera, both they and Canon were often rank as the top 2 companies for their click and shoot camera line. For the more expensive DSLRs, no question Canon is tops.

I also want to know which brand out of these three is the best?
I hope to have on that digital camera good mega pixels,great zoom and a good video camera, preferably a HD one.

To be successful in finding the "best" camera for you will require some direct research.
Visit the Canon, Nikon and Olympus websites.
Take notes and record data like,
* The number of current lenses available of each system.
* The actual size of the sensor (not the pixel count)
* Do you really want a good still camera or a video camera. HD is almost as misused as the pixel count to attract unknowing new users of fully adjustable cameras, DSLR's HD only means that the camera can produce video at either 24 or 30 fps (you have do decide which you need before you buy) using 2 mp of any of the sensors it is being recorded (1960 x 1080 pixels). The real HD video recorders actually use 3-CCD's to record HD video for a total of 6 mp in data (RGB)
* All the zooms on a DSLR system are not only good, but great. If you mean by having the most range from wide angle to telephoto, Nikon and Canon make a 18-200 mm lens which you may consider "good"
Once you have done YOUR research, visit a camera store and actually see which of the cameras you like best; which one fits best in your hands and has the menu that is easiest for you to navigate. Perhaps most importantly, which one is the easiest to change ISO's, resolutions, white balance, modes and EV adjustments.
