canon digital camera japan image

I live overseas at the moment in Japan. Cherry blossoms just started blooming and I want to catch this beautiful scenery. I use my dad's digital camera but I really want a Canon. I want a camera that is easy to use and will last a long time. Something more like a Canon ftb.

What is a good, inexpensive on-camera flash?
well...
I need an on-camera flash for my Canon Digital Rebel and don't want to spend too much money. Suggestions?
Answer
A Vivitar 285HV at under $100 new is a great classic, sturdy choice.
Alternatively, you could look for a used Vivitar 283. If you go this route, however, make sure you get one of the made in China models(as opposed to made in Japan) to avoid frying your camera's flash circuit. I've been paying anywhere from $20-40 apiece for used Vivitar 283s.
