I obviously know that the huge HD cams they use are much more professional than my nex-3 or canon 5d mark II which both can record HD 720i & 1080i but I want to know what are the advantages of using those gigantic cameras they use in cinema and TV ?

Bigger lenses, larger imaging collection devices inside, steadier shots (camera and stand have more mass), easier to reach manual controls, better connectivity to recording devices for storage, less compression used in the video stream when sending to the storage device... They can have SMTPE capabilities for synching audio and video. Low light behavior is superior because of their design and large lenses and imaging collection devices.
In the area you are asking, digital still cameras - and dSLRs - were designed to capture stills. They do that very well. Video and audio capture and storage are "convenience features". They are getting better, but the compression used on the video and the audio controls are still not very good.
Large production-type cameras (Panavision, Arri, etc.) are designed to capture moving images. Many do not have any audio capabilities and cannot capture a digital still image. They are not built to compromise by offering "convenience features".

What are some top digital cameras and video cameras for photography?

Not looking to buy just yet, but get some ballpark figures and compare products. Like i said above i'm looking for a Digital camera able to do a wide variety of shots especially fast moving targets, and a video camera, somethings of high quality footage. I am not a professional, but i do want good equipment, so how about brands anybody want to input on them. Thanks. Please tell me your favorites or a website where they are compared, i appreciate it, thanks.
