What computer model can handle the HD videos of an SLR camera?

At the moment I have a four-year old HP laptop, windows vista and it cannot handle the HD videos from my canon t3i digital SLR camera. Should I invest in a new computer or is there a way I can upgrade my HP to handle the videos?

You will need a fast CPU and as much RAM as you can find, 8 gb or better with one fast 1 tb or better hard drive for compiling the final edit of your video.

Q. I am researching video cameras online, and this is something I have to know. [I bought a Canon digital still camera with HD video, hoping that I could use it to make movies as well. I tried to edit the clips in WMM, but it won't even recognize them. (so if you are reading this and you know how to fix this problem, please help soI won't waste money on a video camera! WMM does not support all file types and not HD.
