Seeing as the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS is brand spanking new. I know that not many carry this camera, but I'm just curious. Only because I really don't know if the Canon DSLR camera's(that I put in the question) have had a predecessor in the past couple of years or very recently.
Now I know it was probably a stupid question, but I know that the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS stands on the same grounds of the new PowerShot S100, and the PowerShot G12. The PowerShot S95 had received impressive reviews since its release, and the PowerShot S100 just surpasses it of course.
I've searched reviews competing against both the EOS DSLR Rebel XS, and EOS DSLR Rebel T3 from the PowerShot SX40 HS. And they say that it beats them both, but I really can't tell from those sites. This is also a price matter, because the PowerShot SX40 HS is only $429.99. While the Rebel XS is $549.99, and the Rebel T3 is $599.99.
Now what differs the two DSLR camera's from the new PowerShot SX40 HS, because I wan't to know if it's still worth getting either. If Canon has rumors of a predecessor for the Rebel XS, and the Rebel T3 camera's. That would be great to know. Please help me with my final suggestion before I purchase a new camera.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_Rebel#Digital_cameras and scroll all the way down, there's a timeline for the rebel series.
A DSLR has a far, far bigger sensor than any compact. This generally means less, noise, more detail, more dynamic range and higher light sensitivity.
A 549 camera comes with a single lens that has only a relatively small zoom range. It also requires skill to make it perform.. A good compact, and canon's S and SX series tends to be very good, it designed to be used by a relatively unskilled user.
It all depends what you want.. if you want to take photography as a hobby seriously then the rebel is the way to go. If not then get a compact.

Best rendering settings for Canon T2i ?
Nat
I have a cannon t2i and shoot short films in 24fps 1080p and when I have slow motion scenes I shoot in 30fps so in my timeline I have a little bit of mixture but 80 percent is 24fp I want to get that film look in my videos but I have been noticing my videos looking blurry in movements and do not know why I use Sony Vegas so what is the best render setting for canon t2i to keep good quality as well as no blurry scenes.. also do i pick 24fps or 23.900(ivtc film) what is the difference? help me with the best setting..
This Jim guy get th fuck off my page man... I know it doesn't film you ignorant ass... I meant film as in cinematic look. Tv is shot in 30fps and film as in movies is 24fps. And second I do you manual focus dick head. I meant the scenes are blurry ghost like when fast motions are being made. When watching the raw footage it appears sharp and clean but when I render it through Sony Vegas fast scenes appear ghost like. So please put your glasses on you fuckin geezer and and goo take some viagra fuck face

Two things that are really obvious. One you know nothing about operating a dslr in video and two you can't shoot film with this camera or hadn't you noticed. This camera doesn't use film it shoots video. If you're term ignorant I suggest, if you're going to talk about digital cameras that you at least have some idea of what you're talking about.
My second issue with your question is have you ever tried manual focus with this camera, or is that beyond you. Blurry scenes - I suppose you think that's the camera's fault - well think again. You really don't get it do you. There are no best settings. If you know nothing about operating this camera then I'd suggest you do some serious reading and perhaps take a course in this kind of camera.
