Canon A300 digital camera got wet and does not work. How can I make it work again?

Camera was wet in the river water while rafting two weeks ago.

If it was just plain water, let it dry and try it again. If it was any other liquid, like beer, soda, pool water, ocean water, etc, it might be ruined. Take it to a camera store and see what they say. If you send it in for repair, it won't be covered under your warranty, by the way.

I am looking to buy a new digital camera, and i was leaning towards a waterproof one, that way i wont have to worry about it getting wet and whatnot. What would be one of the best waterproof cameras that i could get? or what would you reccommend?
