Q. I am researching video cameras online, and this is something I have to know. [I bought a Canon digital still camera with HD video, hoping that I could use it to make movies as well. I tried to edit the clips in WMM, but it won't even recognize them. (so if you are reading this and you know how to fix this problem, please help soI won't waste money on a video camera! Thank you!)]

WMM does not support all file types and not HD.

Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf
Video files: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

I have been back and forth between buying an HD camcorder, or a really nice digital camera with HD video taking capabilities- I've decided to go with the ladder. I am [obviously] not very knowledgeable on the subject, but I am interested to know what the best digital camera is, with HD video taking capabilities. I would like it to look "professional".
I was looking at the PowerShot SX30 IS....what do you think?
