My Canon 50D digital camera viewfinder flashes white and black on white areas. This is on white areas in pictures. Can this be fixed? Is it a problem?

Yes you CAN turn it off, but perhaps you shouldn't - I find it rather useful to warn me about blown out areas.

P.S. Ever considered reading your manual?
There is a reason why you have it, and you would have known the answer to this question already if you had read it.
You will also learn a LOT of other stuff about your camera.
