What is the best digital camera to get available in Australia?

Q. I want a new digital camera.
It has to be over 10 MP and be under $300.
I have originally had 2 Olympus ones and wasn't entirely happy as the first one lasted only one year and the second one just recently mysteriously produced this black spot in all the photos taken so I really need a new camera. Any suggestions? I heard Canon is good?

I have to recommend the Canon PowerShot A590 IS. Amazon retails it for about $280. It has one feature that other brands do not, a separate optical viewfinder (the little hole you look through at your subject). LCD viewfinders just don't work well in broad daylight. If you are going to take pictures outdoors, you should consider getting a camera with an optical viewfinder.

I need to get a good advanced digital camera under 300 dollars.
im using for skateboarding pics. so it needs to have a fast shutter speed. i was thinkin either the Kodak m1015, or the nikon coolpix p80 which one of those is better and do you have any other suggestions.
