Hi I decided to buy a new digital camera, and i stopped at 2 of them, and can someone help me which is better? Canon PowerShot SX260 or Canon PowerShot S100?

Answer
I have the S100 and my son just bought the SX260 HS. The S100 definitely produces a little better image quality/less noise than the SX260 HS...and that's mostly because it has a slightly larger sensor. The SX240 HS is EXACTLY the same as the SX260 HS, but doesn't include GPS.

But, both cameras have their pros and cons. The S100 has a high quality build, is more compact in size, has 5x optical zoom, f/2.0 lens, full manual controls, the ability to shoot in RAW, has two fully customizable control rings, AEB and records Full HD movies. As a compact camera, it's excellent.

The SX260 HS is a little larger in size, also has good build quality, has a whopping 20x optical zoom (though it would be very difficult to handhold the camera still enough when fully zoomed) has full manual controls and records Full HD movies.

The main con with both cameras is battery life (just over 200 shots per full charge) so you would need to make sure you give the battery a top up charge before you're going out shooting for the day...or buy a second battery. They also both feature GPS, which you can turn on or off. If enabled, expect battery life to drain much faster. The only other real con with each camera is that the flash pops up...so you have to be very mindful of where you're fingers are placed, because they can easily get in the way.

You will need a Class 10 SDHC memory card with either camera. I use and recommend Sandisk Extreme 30 MB/sec...format before first use.

I recommend you read reviews (below) and go to a camera store to handle both models to see which feels best in your hands...

Best Digital Camera.......?

Tibby

So a couple months ago I went spelunking and was told I could bring my camera along but in a ziplock bag. I guess I didn't think about it because meanwhile we were climbing up 40 feet and well let's just say I sat on my camera and the lens part got pushed in. I've had the camera for awhile so I don't think I can send it in and get it repaired. I get the "lens error" and well... I just need another camera soon.

I am now pregnant and want to have a nice camera (other than my phone) to take pictures not only of myself but of places too, because I travel.
I am looking for nothing too fancy.. just a nice digital camera that is best for taking shots of things in the open (like scenery) and also that would be great for having a pregnancy shoot or just any pix in general.
Something not too expensive either. Under $500 ( that doesn't mean I'm wanting a bunch of cameras priced at $450 lol .. I just need options and descriptions..
A camera (digital) that you have used before or have a friend that has used one and you were pleased with the photos and settings.

As you can probably tell .. I do not know much about cameras and I'll most likely go to a store and just ask them about it.. but wanted to see what others would suggest for me.

Thanks
