canon digital camera battery problems image
pinkmonkey
I have a digital camera, but it eats up the battery like a mother...and I want something that isn't too bulky and has good pixel quality and the battery will last for at least a week or so. Any help would be great.

I'm a Canon guy. If you cant have or dont want a Canon, Nikon is just as good. Based on what you're describing youre actually looking for 2 different cameras. First good pixel quality isnt really going to come in a small point-and-shoot due to the small size of the sensor. The battery life that you discuss is really that of a DSLR camera, whose battery life will last a long time. The problem is that you describe (size-wise) a point-and-shoot camera.
You're going to have to settle for some trade-offs here. the Nikon Coolpix series takes great pictures and is compact.
I have both a Nikon Coolpix as well as a Canon DSLR camera and use them both for different purposes. Tip for extended battery life in point-and-shoot --> if you can turn the monitor off, that will help preserve battery life (dont walk around sizing up the picture in the monitor, stick your eye up to the camera).

How much would it cost to fix my camera?

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi. When I put in the battery, the camera turns on, but nothing happens.. When you try to turn it off the green light on top stays on, but no pictures show or anything..
Can this be fixed myself or should I bring it somewhere to be fixed? Or should I just buy a new camera?
Answer
Before you get too far into this, call the Canon help line.
800.OK-CANON
Your problem is not typical of your fine camera. It may be a simple fix that Canon can help you resolve. If it isn't they can help you find the closest authorize repair shop
My guess that buying a $200 P&S camera is not your first choice. The Canon 40D purchase price just dropped with the introduction of the 50D, so if you do decide to replace your XTi, you may want to consider it as an alternative.
