What is the best digital camera for my needs?

Anna!

Help!? I need a thin, digital camera that is good for taking awesome videos (sound, picture, etc) and pictures at concerts, but is also good for taking crisp, close-up pictures of friends and family. Any suggestions of a camera or ones that i should stay away from?

Answer
Canon A590IS $134.99 at Best Buy or $116.30 at Amazon.com

There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The following link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/

What gives a camera its picture quality? The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.

Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen. Would suggest that you find one that also has an optical view finder because the LCD screen is almost impossible to see in bright sun.

Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.

Wide-angle shooting, a 12x optical zoom and picture stabilization mode combine in this camera for exceptional shooting performance, even at a distance. The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.
My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. You may be able to view the owners manual at this link, but will need to Login. http://www.retrevo.com/s/digital+camera ...

canon digital camera warranty?

how does the warranty work?.......some people say u hav to mail it to canon to repair ur camera....my mom says u hav to take it to some place for it to be repaired...how does it work....(btw-i live in reno, nevada)....there's some dust under the screen, it's not that big of a deal but i hate it lol

Answer
https://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=OnlineRepairBookingAct

If it is a Canon Warranty, it has to be sent back to Canon. You're mom is mistaken.

Dust under the screen is probably not covered. The manufacturer warranties usually only cover manufacturing defects. You are probably better off taking it to a camera store to get cleaned.

digital camera.......?

what kind of camera does the jonas brothers use to record their videos? there camera works really well and i would like to get it for christmas but i don't know what it is called.

Answer
Not sure what camera they use, but have had great results with a low priced Canon Camcorder. Most cameras don't do as well as Camcorders at video, are much better at photos.

While most of the cameras out there are really good, I would choose Canon over Nikon because it seems like more camera for the money. Some would say Canon withholds their best technology for high end cameras and Nikon implements their best at all levels. Before you decide, read all the text and links in the information below because it will help you know what to look for in a camera.

There is no one particular place to get great buys, but you may see something below that really helps you find the best buy. Click on the first link in the information below for an example then search for your camera of choice at the upper left. Camera prices at this link change often.

Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder, image stabilizer, auto focus, and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.
Canon A590IS $149.99 at Best Buy store yesterday.

which digital camera is the best for downloading photos in PC?

SPIRITUAL

I have a Sony which is good in lenses but when trying to downloading software from Sony is a nightm are!
Which compact digital camera is jut "plug and go" in relation to computer? I mean which digital brand is the more easy to deal, in relation to any computer operation system?
I didn't have any problem with my Canon, but I am having lots of problems with Sony digital cameras and camcorders (Sony'camcorder software even block my PC cd room when updating)

Answer
You can take off the memory card of ANY digital camera, plug it in a compatible USB card reader, connect the card reader to an open USB slot in the computer, and use My Computer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) to COPY, DELETE, and MOVE files from the memory card to the computer and vice versa and even format the memory card (as FAT32) to empty it and give you more space for new pictures. If there is a problem encountered using this method, it is usually the memory card itself at fault and the only solution is to replace it. You DO NOT need to the software that came with the camera at all. Just keep the CD in a safe place for future reference.

Answer
what is a dslr? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dslr and a buying guide. http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Guides/dslr_buying_guide_01.htm

Anyone with normal intelligence and willingness to learn can learn to use one of these in a few hours. Really mastering photography will take a lot longer.

What kind of digital camera do you have?

I am asking for a digital camera for my birthday and would love to hear any good deals out there. I am only buying through stores and need to know what to look for in a camera. I'd like one in the $100-$125 range and will also be wanting one of those chips that you can store photos on. I like taking pictures and sharing them so I'll also want one that I can easily get developed with great pictures. If you know of any good deals going from now untill April please let me know.thanks!
okay i up that to 200-250
i'm only 17 and work at mcdonalds

Answer
I think the camera in your price range is the Canon Powershot A530. It has been on sale at numberous big box stores below $130. That's a good price on a good camera. The A530 was selling for $180 not too long ago. I've recommended this camera within my own family, so I'll be living with the results of this recommendation right along with you. You can use the rest of your budget to buy a decent memory card.

The Canon Powershot A540 is the big brother to this excellent camera and it has reviewed quite well, also. I have seen it selling for $170 this season in all the usual places.

Go here and read an extensive review:

Check the sample images, too.

This will blow your mind:

You can get a brand-name SD memory card for $15-20. Look for at least a 256 MB (512 MB is better) Sandisk, Lexar, or other brand name that you might recognise.
