Canon digital camera?

smart

Which canon digital camera is the best?

Answer
It all depends on what kind of camera your looking for. are you looking for a low level compact camera or a high level compact camera. Or even an entry level dSLR.
low level compact camera:

1.The canon powershot a570 has 4x optical zoom with 7.1 megapixels. its a great low level camera since it has ois (optical image stabilizer) and costs around 200$
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0702/07022201canonsa560a570is.asp

2. the canon powershot sd850 which has 4x optical zoom with
8 megapixels and digic III noise reduction. For more info on this one look at:http://www.dpreview.com/news/0705/07050702canonsd850is.asp

High level Compact cameras:

1. The canon powershot sx100 is it has 10x optical zoom with 8 megapixels and face detection. Face detection automatcially puts the faces in the picture into perfect detail.
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0708/07082004canonsx100is.asp

2. The canon powershot s5 is has 12x optical zoom with 8 megapixels with image stabilizer to lessen the shake while your taking pictures.
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0705/07050703canons5is.asp

dSLRs:

1. The canon mark III has many interchangable lens. with 10 pictures a second The mark III is the best canon camera out there although i'd doubt you'd want to buy one they cost 6,000$ alone without a lens.

canon digital cameras?

Q. hey i've been looking to find a new digital camera. i love taking pictures of things whether it's my friends and me or flowers. i want something w/ nice zoom and that makes good quality pics. i also would like a canon camera...i think they're really good. can anyone tell me a nice canon digital camera that isn't too much money? i mean something below like 400...300 would be my highest probably! i like slim and small so that it fits in my purse and i also said that i like nice zoom...any ideas? thnx :-)
ya well i just want something that has better zoom than the crappy sony one i have now! i'd be happy w/ 4 or 5x zoom it doesn't have to be like 10x or whatever! i need better zoom because i take closeup photos of flowers and other things like that...i think i'm pretty good
but the sony makes the pics come out all fuzzy and everything...my dad's works much better
plus i'm going to france w/ my school in two years when i'm in tenth grade so i'd want something small and not too big so i can put it in a little purse or something

Answer
I LOVE my Canon PowerShot A620. It's a 7.1 mp camera which takes awesome still shots, and just as awesome video. Great for vacation and home use. A great all-around camera.

I had a Sony, and I gave that to my daughter, and purchase the Canon PowerShot A610 for my teenage son. The Canon A610 is exactly like my A620, but is a 5 mp digital camera. They both take GREAT pictures, but my favorite thing about the camera, is the vari-angle LCD screen. It is very easy to use, and a camera you can grow with.

I'm a bargain hunter. I purchased both NEW Canon this past late spring. My son's was under $200 and mine was $204. Just Google or Yahoo! Search for Canon A620, then for the merchant with the best price, and order on-line. The price is waaaay better than going physically to the stores. If you need it right away, just upgrade the shipping. It's still cheaper than buying at the stores. No matter what model camera you're searching for, better prices are on-line.

One of my favorite settings our A610/A620 has is,called "kids&pets". Typically you use these on the subjects that usually has a hard time keeping still. But I also use this setting when taking pictures of my soccer team during game play. I've also taken pictures of my kids, nieces and nephews jumping in the air, a la cheerleader jumps, with great results. Lag time is very, very, very minimal. (i.e. delay from pressing button to actual camera capturing the shot).

I don't know if you'll find these models at the stores. They have newer models, the A630 (8mp) and the A640 (10mp), they boast more mega-pixels. But 5mp, more than suffices for most users. What I did was physically touched and feel the camera at the store, then go on-line to purchase.

Here is the link if you'd like to check out the specs on these Canon cameras: http://www.usa.canon.com
and go to 'products' to 'consumer products' to lead you to the cameras. Check out the zoom on this and other Canon models.

While you're searching on-line, you'll also find many reviews on these cameras. All raving about the camera. You'll also find information on these cameras in Yahoo! Tech.

Hope this helps.

Which digital cameras are better, HP or Canon?

a_k_o

Hi!!

I'm in a dilemma right now as to which digital camera to buy. I have to choose between an HP (M537) and a Canon (Powershot A5).

Both of them are 6 Megapixels but the Canon is about $60 more expensive.

I can afford both but I'd like to find out from you which brand you would rather choose and why. . . .thanks!!!!!

Answer
Don't think HP makes cameras now, but I have an HP M417 that really works well and have always had great support from HP. They may drop the price if you tell them that HP is out of the camera business. The following information should help you know what to look for in a new camera.

There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The following link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/

What gives a camera its picture quality? The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.

Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen. Would suggest that you find one that also has an optical view finder because the LCD screen is almost impossible to see in bright sun.

Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.

Check this more for the money camera. FUJIFILM - FinePix 10.0-Megapixel Digital.
Life time Warranty (Parts & Labor).

Wide-angle shooting, a 12x optical zoom and picture stabilization mode combine in this camera for exceptional shooting performance, even at a distance. Plentiful scene modes, autofocus and automatic white balance controls make this camera a snap to operate. You may be able to find it on the Internet for a lower price ($144), but be careful of the vendor.

This could be the best slim line camera with a viewfinder. It's PINK!

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.
My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. You may be able to view the owners manual at this link, but will need to Login. http://www.retrevo.com/s/digital+camera ...

The source links will show most of the cameras out there with prices and help make your digital cameras work better.

cameras: canon digital rebels?

Lauren

there's a lot of different canon digital rebels...
does someone know the difference between them?

also whats the difference between a DSLR and an SLR?

can you buy different lenses for all of them,
or just some of them?

which one has the lowest aperture, or does that depend on the lense?
so far i have found
the xti
the xt
and the xsi

and theres probably even more than that

Answer
All digital SLR cameras are basically the same machinery. The differences are in the features, pixel count, sensor size and processing within the camera. More features, larger sensor, more
pixels, more $$.

DSLR - Digital Single Lens Reflex. SLR - Film Single Lens Reflex.

They all have interchangeable lenses and yes you can buy lenses for all of them. Some may be different configurations so not all lenses will fit all cameras.

Aperture - correct, it's in the lens not the camera.

The XS, which I own, the XTi, XT and the XSi are all excellent cameras.
In fact, I don't believe Canon makes a bad camera. You simply can't go wrong buying from the world's leader in digital camera technology.
Any camera they offer is worth the price.

I'd suggest this site for more research.

Canon digital camera?

Be B

I just got a canon digital camera model a720. This camera also takes short videos...I read the instruction manual, 2 times.
How do I get the videos off of the camera and to the computer?
Step by step please?

Answer
I don't know your camera's exact model but this is what I do for my cannon,
a) Pop the memory card out (should be an flap ont he side of your camera that you can push the card in and it then pops out)
b) you then insert it into your computer, or an external memory card reader which hooks into your computer via a USB port.
c) go to 'my computer' click your memory card and navigate to your video that you took and copy / cut and then paste it into a folder on your computer.
Voila, theres one way to do it. :-D

Number 2
a) your camera should have come with software (on a CD) and a cable.
b) install the software
c) hook your cable into your camera
d) do the same thing you do for taking off your pictures but somewhere in the stpes there should be an option to take the videos off the camera or take the pictures, choose videos.

Way 3 (this is just an idea, I'm not 100% sure on this one)
a) take that cable used in way 2 and plug in your camera to your computer, then you might be able to navigate from my computer to your camera and pull the files off similarly to way 1.

If you didn't get a CD or cable with your camera, then you need to return the camera or go ask the store that you bought it from. If you have a memory card slot on your computer (which many new computers do have) then use that, it's the easiest way to pull pictures, and videos off your camera.

Hope that was helpful ;-)

My Digital Canon Camera Not showing images.?

Anthony

I have a Canon Powershot A300 digital camera that has been working well since 2005 until last week when I suddenly couldn't see images. The LCD is just black when I try to focus or take a picture. But I can scroll and see the items in the display and menu areas as well as all the images recorded in the memory card. My batteries are excellent and I have always opened the apperture for the lens when taking pictures.

How could the image sensor become faulty all of a sudden? How can I have it repaired or anything replaced because I wonder if the warranty is still applicable after 5 years. I have been using it in Kenya, East Africa.

Please advise if you have had a similar problem or know how to resolve this.

Answer
That camera came out in 2003. It has only 3MP, which aren't very many compared to the cameras out there today. And it doesn't have any zoom either, It does have a viewfinder though, doesn't it? Can you look through that to take your pictures?

The warranty is only good for one year on most compact cameras, so it would cost you a lot to get it fixed. I sure wouldn't put any money into a camera that old. For the money it would probably cost you, providing they still have parts for one that old, you could buy a new camera.

If you are in the US, you could call Canon at 800-OK-CANON and see what they say, but as I said, I wouldn't put any money into one that old.

Most of the Canon Powershot A series cameras have viewfinders, which I feel are very important. If you can find a Powershot A590IS, they have had a very good rating for an inexpensive camera. You could get one for less than $150. It has 8MP, Image Stabilizer to help you get steady shots, a viewfinder, 4x optical zoom and you can even manually set the aperture and shutter speed. But there are other ones out there that are good, too. You can look at some of them here---

what is the best digital camera in canon?

j

I'm not a professional or expert photographer so I have no idea about the ISO, or noise thing. Whenever I read reviews regarding canon g10, that's the usual words i can see. Is Canon G10 excellent? I really want to buy a slr but I cant afford it.

Answer
I recommend Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera.
If you do a search on reviews of this camera you will find a lot of first time DSLR buyers deciding to get this camera. I am one of them. After years of Point and Shoot camera use thinking the convenience of carrying them and using them was worth it, I came to the realization that I wasn't happy with most of the pictures I took. They preserved the moment but almost none of them were worth blowing up or printing. Mediocre flash, zoom, megapixels, etc limited me and the pictures.

I love all the features of this camera for the price, especially the dedicated ISO button on top and the menu system is very easy to figure out, and the 3 inch LCD screen. There is also the switch to SD memory cards which are apparently easier to use than CF. It is so easy to take the card out, put it in an SD USB card reader, load the pictures and return the card to the camera, rather than have to fiddle around with opening the little door on the camera and connecting a cable from it to the PC.

If you are contemplating buying your first DSLR you must remember that the camera is just the start. You will need to invest in a quality external flash to improve your flash pictures. And there is the various zoom lens, that now utilize Image or Optical Stabilization, a technology worth the extra cost. I was happy to do all this and I am absolutely satisfied with this camera and the Canon lens and flash as well. I now am very happy with carrying a bigger but absolutely superior camera.

Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black)

How to transfer files from digital/video camera to a harddrive without using a computer?

Sri

I have a digital camera (Canon SD750) and a hard drive based video camera (Canon Vixia HF10). I would like to know if there's a way to transfer files from these devices to a portable harddrive. I havent purchased a portable harddrive yet and would like to get some advice on the best harddrive that would help me accomplish this task. Mac user here.

Answer
Your Canon SD750 and Canon Vixia HF10 use SD memory cards. The easy solution is too look at one of the portable hard drives that specialize in backup of Flash memory cards. Nearly all of them also have a USB interface that will allow to connect them to most recent Mac computers.

I would suggest the Hyperdrive family of products, because they are very fast, they go soft on electrical power and they are cheap (because most of them do not include a photo display).

Several other products exist with a good display like the Epson line (Look at the Epson P-2000 for example).

I want to use my digital camera ( canon S3 IS ) as Surveillance camera or security camera and watch it in my pc or tv, is it possible or not ?
and also is there any program to do it alone or with the help of camera or web cam?
if yes, how can I do it, please explain.

Answer
most cases not because cameras have a time-out feature that turns them off or shuts off the lens when not in use. best bet is a webcam or camera designed for surveillance.

I have a digital camera Canon. The software provided takes a lot of space which I do not have on my C Drive. I would like to put the software on another Drive in my computer

Answer
uninstall the software from the c: drive and reinstall it on your spare drive. you should have the option to pick where you want to install the software. also keep in mind if you have a lot of photos these will probably be taking up more space than your camera software does. you may want to at least back them up on your spare drive.
