i want to buy a digital camera non-SLR upto 15000 max.....which would b d best choice................???

Parminder

which is d best brand for a digital camera ..

Answer
Not sure what you mean by "15000 max" but I'll try my best to help.

As far as Brands go, I'd say there's two main brands to go with: Canon and Nikon. They both make amazing cameras, but some are better than others. Canon's cameras usually have better ease-of- use and quality for Video, and Nikon has a good line up of mirror-less Cameras.

Two I'd recommend are the Canon SX40 HS and the Canon Powershot A4000.

If you're looking for a good 'Bridge' Camera (non DSLR) the Canon SX40Hs is you're best bet. It has a modest price for the features, including a 35x Optical Zoom (It's Crazy), Image Stabilizer, 1080p Hd Video, 10fps burst mode, 3'' Swivel LCD Screen, and more. Check it out: http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_10051_286234_-1

If you're looking for a cheaper, even easier to use Camera, try the Canon Powershot A4000. A very nice Point- And- Shoot Camera, it has 16 megapixels, 8x Optical Zoom, Image Stabilizer, and 720p Video. See it here: http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_10051_298606_-1

I hope I could help you make a decision, happy shooting!

How high should the optical zoom be in a camcorder? Which is best?

haniftl

i have e-mailed many people and asked this question, which is the best optical zoom in a camera- Highest or Lowest i.e 35x or 10x?
And the answer I get is the higher the zoom the better in a camcorder. I am quite confused .What does 'optical zoom' mean. Which has the best image quality-35x or 10x? I will really appreciate it if any one can answer my question in detail because I am going to buy a new camcorder and i need all the advice i can get.

Answer
Potential zoom amount is a small part of the entire system when determining whether a camcorder is "good" or not. Lens size and imaging chips are very important - as well, the media and file types and compression applied to the digital video stream is very important.

For example, the Canon ZR900 is a standard definition, miniDV tape based, camcorder, has 40x zoom and is available for around $250. I am fairly confident that the Canon XHA1, miniDV tape camcorder, with "only" 20x zoom or even the Sony HDR-FX1 with only 12x zoom are much better camcorders.

So... What is your budget?

There are some broad areas where various camcorders are categorized.

Toys: up to $250
entry level consumer: up to $500
mid range consumer: up to $800
high end consumer: up to $1,300
prosumer: up to $2,200
pro: $3,000 and up...

Once you decide that, be advised that MiniDV tape based camcorders record best available video quality because they capture the digital video stream and write that to the digital tape with the least amount of compression. Most professionals use miniDV tape. HDV is great. ALL miniDV tape based camcorders require connecting a firewire cable to the camcorder's DV port and the computer's firewire port. The new MacBooks and MacBook Air laptops do not have a firewire port - and there is no way to add one. ALL other Macs made in the last ten years or so have a firewire port.
Entry level: Canon ZR900, ZR930 (consumer grade)
Low: Canon HV30, Sony HDR-HC9 (consumer grade)
Med: Canon XHA1, Sony HDR-FX1000 (prosumer grade)
High: Canon XL series, Sony HVR series (professional grade)

Flash memory and hard disc drive (HDD) camcorders record high definition to the same file formats - AVCHD. HDD camcorders fall off the list because of known vibration and high altitude issues that prevent them from recording video. Video data files from flash memory camcorders can be copied directly from the camcorder or a card reader can be used. In either case, USB connection is employed.
Low: Canon HF10, HF11, HF100, Sony HDR-CX11, HDR-CX12 (consumer grade)
Med: There are none.
High: Panasonic HVX200 (uses P2 cards - professional grade)

There are other decent camcorders - this is merely a short list to get you started.

The main differences between consumer grade and professional grade camcorders:

Consumer camcorders have small lenses and imaging chips. They will not do well in low light situations. Pro-grade have large lenses and imaging chips.

Consumer camcorders' manual controls can be a challenge to get to through the menuing program in the camcorder. Pro-grade camcorder manual controls - audio, zoom, aperture, focus, among several others are all easily accessible on the outside of the camcorder - generally not through a menu system.

Consumer camcorders mostly do not have an audio in-jack... but if they do, it is a single 1/8" stereo audio jack - and there is no manual audio control at all. Camcorders with a 1/8" audio jack can use an XLR adapter like those from BeachTek or juicedLink. XLR connectors are used for pro-grade mics. Pro-grade camcorders use XLR audio-in connectors - typically two of them (one for each channel: left/right audio).

There are a lot more differences, but these are the main ones...

Planning on buying a new camera. A little help please?

c c

I am buying a new digital point and shoot this week. I original had it down to these three: Canon Powershot SX30 IS, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ40, & Nikon Coolpix P100.

I am mainly looking for: HD video ability, great overall picture quality, good in low-light, good optical zoom (doesn't have to be crazy like canon's 35x, but good), and fast shutter speed.

Thanks to anyone who helps. Kind of a hard decision for me, because I want to best camera at a good price for what I'm looking for. Price range is max at $400.

Answer
Canon Powershot s95 or Lumix LX5.
But Lumix might be slightly expensive for your price range. But this Canon mentioned above is just an amazing camera. 720p HD video with stereo microphone, and superb pro like image quality. Check youtube reviews.

What's the highest optical zoom on a digital camera?

canon digital camera 35x optical zoom on ... Guide: Canon Powershot SX30 IS Successor SX20 IS 35X with Optical Zoom
canon digital camera 35x optical zoom image

Florencia

i've seen canon sx30 with 35x optical zoom, is there any higher?

Answer
Yes it's the best for now, but you have to consider a few problems before going wild for zoom. I own the predecessor Canon S5 IS (12x zoom) and SX10 IS (20x zoom). I kept the S5 because of some of the problems with the longer zoom camera, even though the SX10 is a good one.

The SX30 IS has wonderful focal length, but reviews and sample shots show serious chromatic aberration (purple fringing) problems and image quality is not up to its predecessors. This requires a work with software to eliminate the purple or sometimes green at the edges of high contrast areas on the image.

Another mechanical aspect of these long lenses that is often ignored is the "slow lens" (it's true for ALL the competitors as well) - the longer the zoom the smaller the aperture must be - requiring a much slower shutter speed. This is to the point that you need a tripod to avoid camera shake in many situations. I know first hand from my two cameras, that on an ordinary cloudy day walking around with my S5, I can take a good sharp hand held shot that will result in blurry camera shake on the SX10 - the slow lens problem is so much the worse on the SX30.

I will say that the reviews are reporting the "image stabilization" (the "IS" in the name) has really improved on the SX30 and there are some other features to compensate for the above problems, but do your research, and be sure about whether you will need to pack a tripod and set it up to take those zoomy images you want, and whether you are willing to edit images in software to get rid of the chroma problem.

What digital camera has the most zoom?

joe m

is there a digital camera that has more zoom than the canon sx300is, it has a 35x optical and a 4x digital for a combined 140x.

Answer
Well, throw out any digital zoom. It is nothing more than cropping an already small sensor. Better results can be had by cropping the image produced by the optical zoom later in post production.

Most of the "super zoom" P&S cameras have a range from 24x to 35 x, plenty until you can eventually afford a real dSLR with interchangeable lenses, a huge sensor (15 times larger than a P&S) and complete control over the exposures of the images

At present, the Nikon P100, Kodak Z981 and Pentax X90 have 26 x optical zoom lenses, the Fujifilm HS10 with a 30 x optical zoom and the Canon SX300 with its nice 35x optical zoom have the longest zoom reach.

The reason for choosing extended zoom lens P&S cameras is because you cannot use other lenses, what you buy, is what you will have until you buy a new P&S with a longer zoom or buy a dSLR and start investing in lenses.

What is an awesome camera for photography?

Countrysou

I want to take professional photos with a camera thats easy to use and takes clear and awesome picures! the highest im willing to pay will probably be 400-450 dollars. so if you know a cheap camera that works really well and takes professional looking photos please tell!:)

Answer
Good photographers take good pictures, not the camera. But if your interested in learning I can give you a few suggestions for good bridge cameras. They give you the option of shooting in auto or manual.

A camera that I love is the Canon Power Shot SX30 IS
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-SX30IS-Digital-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B0041RSPR8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315583584&sr=8-1

14.1 MP, 35X Zoom, Auto options plus options to set all settings manually. And at $380 a very good deal.

Another one I like Nikon COOPIX P500
http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-COOLPIX-P500-Wide-Angle-Black/dp/B004M8SVHK/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1315583741&sr=1-11

12.1 MP & 36X Zoom and a good price at $350

But like everyone else said to take professional pictures it takes LOTS of studding, learning about ALL the settings, composure, lighting & much much more.
