Is the Canon 60d DSLR camera an ideal choice?

Is the canon 60d dslr an ideal choice for both photography and video? I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap canon 60d available, as the cheapest one I've seen has been $530. I'm just not sure if I can afford that right now, and plus I'd need to buy the lenses and mic, etc. So have you heard of any in the $300 - $450 range? Also - if there are any other better cameras you would recommend, that'd be amazing! I'm looking for one that is also nice with taking videos in HD as most lately are about 1800 which is great. It needs to have better video stabilizers than others, though, because I'll be shooting while in motion. I just need a DSLR because I also love to take photos of everything, and a 2 in 1 would be very ideal! And to find one that's cheap is also ideal haha! Finding quality things at a cheap price is everyone's dream, so I'd love the help! Thanks so much! And any information on these products or tips would be great, too! :)

Of Course Canon 60D is a perfect choice. I recommend 60D due to its high image quality and its upgraded features than other rebels and it matches your requirements as well. It is great in shooting videos along with the still photography.

Which to buy: Canon 60D vs T4i?

I have money for both, and I know the specifications for both. T4i has a better processor and a lot of improvements (apart from max shutter speed). I of course would want to buy the cheaper of the two, but I am looking for peoples opinions that have actually used the two different cameras.

The 60D does win the price war.

The T4i hasn't been available for very long, so not much is known about it. This site that compares cameras declines to make an evaluation because the T4i is so new.

The T4i is getting fairly mixed reviews from actual owners of the camera.

What would be a good semi- professional camera for a beginner?

So recently I've gotten really interested in photography but i use a regular digital camera. My dad offered to buy me a semi-professional camera but i dont know which one to pick? Leave suggestions thank you and within a good price range nothing super expensive.

If you really want to pursue photography in a somewhat serious way, go ahead and invest in a DSLR now. The good thing with a DSLR is that you can get great lenses, and continue to use them after you've upgraded bodies at a later point.

The next step is picking your manufacturer. Because the bad part about a DSLR, once you start acquiring a nice lens collection, it is hard to switch to another manufacturer. Most people choose Canon or Nikon. However, Pentax, Sony, and Olympus are also viable. I wouldn't go with any other brands.

Now that you've picked a manufacturer, select a fairly entry level body. For Canon, a 60D would be great. All the other manufacturers make a similar entry level camera.

Now pick a lens. Although I shoot almost exclusively primes (non-zooms,) for a beginner, a zoom is a great learning tool. And as I said, if later you want to upgrade your camera, you can use the lens with the new camera. If your dad is opening the wallet big, an outstanding choice is the EF 24-70mmf/2.8L USM. If not so big, the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is a good lens that is very affordable.

Now the important part. With your new camera, buy a good book on how to use your camera. The Magic Lantern series is well regarded, but there are many out there. And study, study, study. Know your camera like your own hand. Never shoot on green (automatic.) Start with M (manual) and never look back. In the long run, you'll be glad you did. Once you've mastered the basics, study the rules of composition, lighting, color theory and start taking wonderful photos.

I have preferences amongst them....I guess in the entry level cameras, the Nikon D3100, the Canon EOS 600D and the Pentax K-r are the picks.
All of the mid level cameras are great.

In regards to megapixels.....I think you should just completely forget about it. Any camera with more than 8 megapixels is going to do the job. Honestly it's largely used as a sales tool to sell cameras to people who don't know about cameras.

I don't know what beauty mode is, but in portrait mode the camera just opens the aperture really wide. To soften blemishes, you need to think about how the subject is lit. Soft lighting (don't use the pop-up flash) or even using a sheet of white cardboard to reflect light onto the subject will work. Move the subject out of strong sunlight.

Q. I have a nikon coolpix digital camera, and another digital camera from a couple years back, but i'm getting more and more interested in taking better quality pictures. I don't have a lot of money to spend on one, so the cheaper, the better. but i still want a good resolution quality and everything else good too. thanks in advance for any help.

You can find many film cameras for very cheap. Resolution will depend on the film you select and choice of lenses.
And you can have whole setups (camera+lenses) from 50-100 US to no more than 500 US. They will beat any digital setup for the price.
Look into:

- Rangefinders (I still use, from time to time my Canon AE-1P but even the EOS 1V could be found on eBay for ~400 US. The 1V is one of the best 35mm cameras ever made!)
- Medium Format (maybe an old Mamiya?)
- Large Format (try a starter one, maybe an old Crown Graphic or a Wista...)

Options, there are many. If you meant digital, then there is nothing best/cheap. It is sort of linearly dependent. The better they are, the more they cost.

I prefer Canon. It is a personal preference, no need to start the endless battle of which one is better.

-Point and Shoot - G12
-Entry level - 60D or even a Rebel

Suggesting anything above that is pointless because you want cheap.

Any of those 3 would be a great option. Many of us have used different DSLRs and when you're below 3500$, it's all the same. If you're using a camera only for low light (high ISO) then of course there will be differences, but technology today is so good there is barely any distracting noise at ISO 6400 while 3 years ago 1600 was..eh, acceptable.

T1i is a good choice but Canon could've done it better. The previous one, XSi, has 3 less megapixels and no video but same quality. T2i, the latest of these Rebels, is in my opinion, the best choice for beginners.

D5000 is good, but is fading out due to new cameras, especially because of D3100 and D7000. D3100 is almost the cheapest and is amazing.

40D is pretty old but still has great quality. Noise is worse than at T2i, 60D and 7D (due to technology) and the LCD Screen is bad compared to ones today. It doesn't have Microfocus adjustement and well, you can only get a used one.
