Does the Canon PowerShot 7.1MP Digital Camera - SD750 include batteries?????

um im thinking about getting this camera but i dont know what batteries it takes or if it comes with batteries, uh if you dont like this camera what camera do you think if should get?

Most digital cameras come with your charger and rechargeable battery, or two-four regular AA batteries to get you started. They also will include small things like a USB cord, and a strap.

Make sure that if the camera does not come with a rechargeable battery and charger, to get one when you purchase it. Digicams tend to go through regular batteries like toilet paper.

Canon's Powershot line is a very good and simple line of cameras. They are backed by very good customer service that Canon offers, unlike some other brands that I have dealt with like Sony or HP. I actually looked at the camera you are thinking about purchasing, and it looks nice- if you play with it and think you don't like it Casio, Pentax, and Fuji all make very nice cameras that are similar. Personally, I have always preferred Canon though. Everyone gets biased towards their favorite brand.

Has anyone tried the Energizer Lithium AA Battery for their digital camera. Did they really last longer than the regular AA battery. Just want to know before I buy, they are rather expensive. What about the rechargable batteries, any thoughts on them? I'm tired of my camera eating other batteries. I have a Canon A540. Thanks.

Lithium is a great battery, but costly. I recomend you look for the highest capacity nickel metal hydride rechargable batteries you can find with a charger. I use to own the A540, but upgraded to the A710is. Both are nice cameras. I use Duracell 2650 MAH batteries in them, and they last very well. Your A540 has a decent view finder on it. It's better than the view finder on the A710is.....honest. Because of that, you can use the view finder with relative ease as opposed to the LCD, which eats batteries, and, washes out under bright sunlight. (lots of digital do that). The downside of the view findes is 1) no diopter, and 2) it's only about 80% as accurate as your LCD screen. If those items are unimportant to you, then use your view finder as much as possible. When I had the A540, I was a little disappointed with how it tended to wash out on bright sunny days. My advice to you is switch to the "P" mode, then set the ISO to 100. That will help.

I need a new camera battery charger, should I risk going with a much cheaper off-brand?

Looking to buy a charger for LP-E5 batteries for my digital SLR Canon camera, should I go with the $40 Canon charger or a much cheaper $15 off-brand that also includes two extra batteries and a car adapter? Anyone got any experience with off-brand chargers?

I prefer to use OEM batteries and the OEM charger for them. The charger can read the battery and charge it accurately so that it does not overheat/overcharge to prevent swelling (and possibly becoming a fire hazard). The other nice thing about using OEM batteries is that if it damages your camera, repairs are handled by the manufacturer.

Some people don't have a problem with the third party batteries, a fellow photog wasn't so lucky. He had a battery leak in his camera (as a result of over charging), and spent several hundred to get the camera cleaned and repaired. The battery company only offered to send him a replacement battery.

On vacation, put my memory card into a different camera and it says there are no photos?

I have a Canon Digital Rebel Xsi and had a memory card packed with photos in it. The camera's battery ran out and I forgot to put the charger, so I put my card in my dad's Nikon D40x and it says there are no photos on the card?! I'm on an old computer with no memory card slot so I can't check on there.

Any idea what happened? Is it because the camera doesn't recognize pics from another camera, or are the photos gone? Can they be recovered?

That is right. Don't worry, the photos are still there, but you cannot expect different cameras to "see" image files shot with another camera model, especially a different brand.

For under $10 you can buy a USB 2.0 card reader and copy your images to any computer you like.

You will notice that the image files your camera produces are called IMG_1234 and your dad's are called DSC_1234

While they are both JPEG files, the different naming conventions preclude your dad's camera from seeing them

I am going on a school trip this weekend for a week, and I will need my camera, but I don't think the store has battery chargers for all cameras, and I won't have time to order one.

In the US, that camera is known as the SD780. Call your local camera stores to see if they carry a charger for a NB-4L battery. The other thing you could do is find a third party battery AND charger. Since the battery/charger circuitry can be proprietary, you should only use the designated pairs (Canon charger with a Canon battery, etc.)

Explain how to set up and maintain the Canon DSLR. Tells me that you bought a DSLR because everybody on this site told you too. Now you are faced with how to operate the darn thing. Simply put you bought more camera than you should have. Well the only thing is to make the best of it.

LETS ADDRESS YOUR QUESTIONS FIRST:
1.You should not get into editing beyond the simple cropping that processors offer for now, you have enough on your plate. I always use a store in my community for most of my pictures.. I do not go into their store except to "pick-up" my order. I use their web site to crop, & order my prints. I don't like putting my memory card into machines that have been abused by every "Tom, Dick & Harry!"
COMPUTER UPLOADING: buy & use a memory card reader ($6.00) instead of the camera to computer cord that drives people nuts.
2. Hardware; there is no hardware to buy now or ever. If you are referring to lenses, you do not have the experience now to go out and spend money on lenses that YOU really don't have a need for yet.
SOFTWARE: you should have connected your camera to your computer for any up dates to your camera, when you first got your camera. Make this a once a year project. When I connected my camera, the web site updated the cameras software so I could use the (then) new SDHC memory cards.
3. Set the camera up and maintain it. Starting backwards unless you use some other size battery you should get yourself about 3 sets of double "A" rechargeable batteries. The best brand are Eneloop. Buy together with a battery charger is the most economical way. If you have a different size battery buy two extras batteries, or at least one. Keep batteries charged , what ever size you use.
4. NECK STRAP- Yahoo does not like it when I use capitals all the time BUT this is perhaps the most important thing you can do. Always wear the neck strap. You drop this camera, be warned-dropping is NOT covered under warranty! The camera belongs in two places only, around your neck or in the gadget bag! Not carry by it's strap in your hands (like that blasted Nikon commercial implies!)
5.Auto setting, most people who own DLSR's recommend against using the "Auto" setting. But I recommend YOU use it until you become familiar with your camera.

I also recommend you invest in some easy to read books by Scot Kelby. He writes in a very easy to read style. I have a few because at first digital was foreign to me coming from a film environment.
The really nice thing about his books beyond the understanding factor is his web site. He often refers you to his web site to make visual presentations easier to understand! This is a real plus for me.
And while we are on the subject of reading you should check amazon for a good book on your model camera. Instruction books are often hard to read because it seems they do not employ "tech" writers anymore and you are left with what is left.

P.S. I just read "Jim A's" advise on the manual. He is correct but I take it one step further. I download and PRINT the manual, leaving out simple things I already know like putting batteries in the camera etc. I take the remaining pages to a large place like Staples and have them cut and spiral bind the rest. I carry this home made manual with me should I encounter a situation I am not familiar with.
All this editing and preparing also enhances my knowledge of the camera and I find I have less & less to refer to. And while I am on my soapbox, get your backside out there and shoot and shoot. Experience is the best teacher!

I did not see any mention of using the USB cable to charge the battery.

Can universal digital camera battery chargers harm your camera?

As long as the charger produces the same voltage and current.
Let's say it's 3.7v at 900mAh, then the charger should have the same specs. All chargers have specs printed on them somewhere. Odds are that any charger for the NB-4I will be within the specs. Avoid anything without specs.

The battery can't harm your camera unless it's charged incorrectly, and since it takes a few hours to charge a battery you'd probably mess the battery up before you put it in the camera. Just match them ...3.7v and 900mAh should be on the charger

All modern phones except for iPhone recharge with micro-USB. It's quite annoying to carry several power adaptors around when on the move. For example, all small Canon digital cameras have a several charger which you must put the battery into, to charge the camera. Pretty unhandy, considering how easy it would be to connect your phone charger to your camera. Which brands and models has this feature? Thanks for your help!

Yes there are but very few. I don't now which ones do so you may have to sue the Search box at the top of this page to do that. You may try those generic clip-on charging devices sold in cellphone accessory shops. You can probably use it for both cellphone and camera batteries.
