What can I use to charge my videocam/digital camera/laptop in the Philippines?

I'm traveling next week to the Philippines and I'm bringing my Sony DCR-SR42 handycam, Canon Powershot G6 camera and my laptop. I need to know what charger/power adapter to buy. Thanks!

Check the label on your power adapter. If it says 120 - 240v, then you should be good. Most wall outlets in the Philippines produce 240v and will blow the fuse or the whole device if it is not rated to support this capacity.

If your adapters do not support 240v, then you'll need a step-down transformer that allows you to plug it into a 240v outlet and produces 120v output. If you can't find one local to your area, you will find more availability in the Philippines.

If you need to charge multiple devices at once, you'll need to also bring or buy a power strip bar. Don't plug these directly into a 240v wall outlet unless it is rated to work for such capacity.

Unlike the typical plug interface in the U.S. with 2 parallel bars, some 240v outlets in the Philippines require a plug interface with 2 parallel round holes. Go to your local radio shack or equivalent to buy these accessories.

i want a camera as i'm doing for at least 5 years but i'm amateur. i want something that's lense removable but don't like the ones with huge and expensive. i see this a590 has a great feature. those it has IS? plus is this a reliable seller at ebay, i am in the philippines.

The A590 IS is a budget, point & shoot camera. For a budget model, it got fairly good reviews. It's best image quality is in good outdoor light.

In regards to add-on lenses...well, you actually can use a wide or tele converter, as well as a close-up lens with the A590 IS.
HOWEVER, these are not very good and will not gain you anything, so they really would be a waste of money. These are NOT like the normal interchangeable lenses you get with dSLR cameras.

You really should look at a better camera if you want to use a variety of different lenses and a dSLR is what you should be looking at, instead of a compact camera.

But, if a more advanced camera is not within your budget, then you should just look at a good quality compact (Canon) instead, and forget about using additional lenses for now...

My brand new digital camera has not been repaired by Canon Philippine for two and a half months now. They said the parts has not yet arrived from abroad. There is something wrong with the flash so I brought it for repair. I have'nt use it yet since I bought it from Saudi.
