a friend of mine wants me to buy the 6D from the following link. he is from Mexico, so he cant buy it directly, I told him is too good to be true, $300 lower than B&H, I found a few complaints about getitdigital, Does anyone have experience with getitdigital? I couldn't persuade him to not buy from this ebay seller. so if this is real, its a very cheap option.

I know the money is protected, I'm concern how long it will take to resolve and get money back.. or if it like Edwin says, if there is no USA warranty and cant recover money after X amount of time.

Its his money, he knows, just wanted more advise on it.

Is your friend aware that the price is for just the camera BODY? No lens is included. It says in the description that its in the original box which was opened and the lens removed. Also, your friend needs to inquire about the warranty which may or may not be good here in North America and/or Mexico. I'm thinking this is a grey market camera that 'getitdigital' imported from Hong Kong or Singapore or elsewhere and if it ever needs warranty service your friend will have to ship back to its country of origin.

Tell your friend its better safe than sorry and to buy from an Authorized Canon Dealer.

Where can I find a polaroid camera with film in Singapore?

If you are into nostalgia then you have to go through the troublesome process of finding an Old New Stock (ONS) Polaroid camera and find someone with a dwindling stash of discontinued films to sell you. Try ebay.

Alternatively, you can buy a digital camera with nostalgic mode that approximate older films colors and get a portable Canon dye sub printer. This way you can get your pictures printed instantly.

That said, fewer people are printing out pictures and are preferring to display on their TV or Computer LCD.

They only print when they have to and its a matter of going to a photo lab at any shopping mall.

So an importer buys cameras and lenses in Singapore, imports them into the USA and undersells ones imported by the USA affiliate of Canon, Nikon, etc.

Although this is legal, the consumer who buys a "Gray Market" camera or lens has no USA warranty protection. The warranty is only good where the camera or lens was originally sold.

I am looking to buy a digital camcorder. Which brand and model should I buy and not buy from?

I will be using it to record family moments, short videos or events. Not for professional use. I'm really newb when it comes to this. Also the camera should have good quality recording. not some 240p video. And must be able to record long periods of time, preferably.

First, when asking a shopping-related question, it helps to give us a budget figure (in either US Dollars or whatever currency you are accustomed to dealing with in Singapore). Camcorder prices span a wide price range, from a don't-waste-your-money under-$100 USD model to many thousands of dollars pro-level gear.

For practical "family moments" style shooting, stick to a reliable and well-made brand like Sony, Canon, JVC, Panasonic, etc. Avoid no-name Asian import models, or now-cheap rubber-stamp brands like Polaroid or Vivitar (both of which used to represent quality USA brands; now the names are licensed to cheap import cameras). Kodak "PlaySport"/"PlayTouch" and Cisco "Flip" camcorders are all discontinued, although still available from dealers and online closeout sellers. I wouldn't buy one of these "orphaned" models, since customer support will disappear after a year or two.

Feel free to post an "Additional Details" update to your Question, using the Action Bar menu below your post (mouse-over the blue Edit menu "pencil icon"), and tell us how much you wish to spend. Then we can recommend specific models & brands in your price range.

What is the problem when my camera's LCD viewer can't display images?

I have bought my IXUS 70 in Singapore last week. I started taking pictures using the memory card included and was successful. However, when I started taking pictures with another memory card, the LCD monitor turned blank- it only shows a black shadow (looks like it has been covered by a lens cover--in digital SLRs cases or the camera's appearing to be turned off). I can't take pictures as well since it only shows the black shadow. I have taken it to a service center here in the Philippines and they said that it is a factory defect, the sensor has a problem.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Or would you know if they will have the whole camera replaced since it is still covered by the 1 year warranty (the camera's still 1 week old). I'm worried that I would not get my money's worth. Please help. Thanks!

Act quickly and get it to a Canon factory warranty station. If it's a sensor defect, they'll most likely replace the camera, as the time and labor would be too much. Since the camera is new, turnaround time should be at a minimum, but the service center can best advise you about that.

Be sure you don't leave your memory card in the camera when you send it in.

I hope neither you nor the service center in the Philippines opened up the case of the camera, because if it shows signs of being tampered with, Canon may void the warranty.
