Driver Software for Canon Digital Rebel XT?

Q. I recently moved from home, and brought my Rebel XT with me. I am using a Dell Studio laptop running Windows Vista 64 bit. This computer DOES NOT have a disk drive.

Because of the missing disk drive, I can not install the driver software that came with my camera, and I can not download the version Canon gives on the website because it is not compatible with Vista 64 bit.

Is there any way to download a version of driver software compatible with my OS and my camera? Or do I need to buy a card reader and/or a portable disk drive? I can't find anything on the web.

Try connecting the camera to the laptop using the USB cable. It should be detected by Windows Explorer (My Coomputer) automatically as a Removable Storage Device (or something to the tune of that). From there, you could copy, delete, or move files around to and from your camera. If you would want to edit them, use your favorite graphics program like Photoshop, Corel or Paintbrush. Irfanview is a free downloadable graphics program that is simple to use.

If the camera is not detected by Windows, buy a cheap card reader, insert the camera's memory card there and connect then to the laptop. Again, it should be detected by Windows automatically.

we recently got a new computer and i want to put pictures from my canon powershot sd600 digital elph camera but i lost the disc to put the software on the computer..is there ne thing free that i can download to get the pictures on my new computer?

If you had just bought your computer then most likely it is equipped with an SD/MMC card reader thus you can transfer your pictures from your SD card to your hard disk using your file browser. if your computer is not equipped with an SD card reader then my best advise is just to buy one (around $20 for a multi-card reader or even less)

I have a Canon Powershot sd600 digital camera. When I plug it in to my computer this mini program comes up and all I have to do is click download images to get them on my computer. But they download so huge that I cant email them out or use them online without first resizing them in Paint. Is there anyway I can modify the size that they will download to my computer to save the resizing step?

I borrowed a Canon Digital Rebel XT camera from school & would like to put the pictures onto my computer. I have a USB cord that connects my computer to the camera, but when I do, it says I need to insert the software CD that came with the camera -- which I don't have.

I don't have a card reader either.

How do i view my uploaded pictures from my camera on my computer?

i have a canon EOS 1100D digital camera, whenever i connect my camera to the computer it uploads all the photos. but then i am unable to view my photos. it says i need to save them as a jpeg to view/edit but it wont even let me do that.. please someone help!

You might be shooting in RAW mode. Confirm that you loaded the Canon software from the disc that came with the camera, on the computer you are trying to use. PCs and Macs, tablets and phones can only show standard file types like jpegs.

RAW is different for every single camera that can shoot RAW, it's very annoying, not sure why camera makers refuse to make RAW as DNG, but whatever.

In a pinch, Google's Picasa (free download) can open just about any RAW file.

One last thing, don't let RAW scare you, that's how you should be shooting, RAW is the highest quality, and all the data from the image sensor. If you are still running into trouble, shoot in RAW+Jpeg mode on your camera.

Once your files are on your computer, if you are using a PC, just choose the 'view' tab, choose to sort by type. Then save RAW in one folder, jpeg in another.

I have no clue about this. I think it must be D:.

1. Connect the memory card to computer. Under "My Computer", note the drive letter assigned to your camera's memory card (usually G: or H:).
2. Download this program on your compute. here is the link: http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
3. Install and start the program. then select the drive where your lost files located, click Start. Now the scanning process will start to search the deleted files. After a while you will then get a list of recoverable files.
4. Press Recover to perform full recovery.
