Canon and Fuji has great videos, but not Sony.
Go to circuit city store to see how they are first before buying online.
I recently purchased 2 Canon A570 IS combos from newegg.com for my cousin.
After receiving it, they don't like the way it looks.
The camera has all the latest Canon technologies like image stabilization and face detection.
The wife wants a better looking camera.

If looks are more important than technology, quality, and reliability then get a Sony.

From experience, Fuji are not reliable, Sony takes poor movies indoor, Canon is most reliable and solid.
Canon camera are heavier than most for a reason.
They pack in all those high techs to make a great picture.

I never try Nikon, don't think I will unless they have something that is better than what Canon has.
I want to buy American like Kodak, but don't like all those bad customer comments.

Shop at the stores and buy online.
Don't buy from Amazon unless you want to wait a week or two for you stuff.
Buy.com and Newegg.com are my favorite places to shop, they ship fast for only a few dollar more.

I bought the Canon A1200 because I wanted a small point and shoot that I could take everywhere with me. Other selling points were the optical viewfinder which I don't really use much, as well as the AA batteries. I use Sanyo Eneloops in this camera and they work great. I don't know how many pictures I can take with them on a single charge because I end up recharging them before they die completely.

Canon PowerShot A630--top drawer camera with 8 megapixels (means sharper pictures) and decent zoom (4x). The only drawback is it is a little bulky--won't fit in a shirt pocket. It has a cool swivel viewscreen, though, that enables you to take pics of yourself or whatever without using the timer (which it also has). I've owned one of these for about a year, and have been fully pleased with it--it takes good pictures of everything from my kids to nature to stuff I put on ebay :)

If you are willing to sacrifice a bit of picture quality for a smaller camera (and gain a larger, but no swivel, view screen), go with the PowerShot SD600.

ya well i just want something that has better zoom than the crappy sony one i have now! i'd be happy w/ 4 or 5x zoom it doesn't have to be like 10x or whatever! i need better zoom because i take closeup photos of flowers and other things like that...i think i'm pretty good
but the sony makes the pics come out all fuzzy and everything...my dad's works much better
plus i'm going to france w/ my school in two years when i'm in tenth grade so i'd want something small and not too big so i can put it in a little purse or something

I LOVE my Canon PowerShot A620. It's a 7.1 mp camera which takes awesome still shots, and just as awesome video. Great for vacation and home use. A great all-around camera.

I had a Sony, and I gave that to my daughter, and purchase the Canon PowerShot A610 for my teenage son. The Canon A610 is exactly like my A620, but is a 5 mp digital camera. They both take GREAT pictures, but my favorite thing about the camera, is the vari-angle LCD screen. It is very easy to use, and a camera you can grow with.

I'm a bargain hunter. I purchased both NEW Canon this past late spring. My son's was under $200 and mine was $204. Just Google or Yahoo! Search for Canon A620, then for the merchant with the best price, and order on-line. The price is waaaay better than going physically to the stores. If you need it right away, just upgrade the shipping. It's still cheaper than buying at the stores. No matter what model camera you're searching for, better prices are on-line.

One of my favorite settings our A610/A620 has is,called "kids&pets". Typically you use these on the subjects that usually has a hard time keeping still. But I also use this setting when taking pictures of my soccer team during game play. I've also taken pictures of my kids, nieces and nephews jumping in the air, a la cheerleader jumps, with great results. Lag time is very, very, very minimal. (i.e. delay from pressing button to actual camera capturing the shot).

I don't know if you'll find these models at the stores. They have newer models, the A630 (8mp) and the A640 (10mp), they boast more mega-pixels. But 5mp, more than suffices for most users. What I did was physically touched and feel the camera at the store, then go on-line to purchase.

Anyone know of a decent priced digital camera for an 11 year old boy? He is just starting out with a digital camera so we don't need anything too extravagant and we also want something durable. Any help would be awesome.

While most of the cameras out there are really good, I would choose Canon over Nikon because it seems like more camera for the money. Some would say Canon withholds their best technology for high end cameras and Nikon implements their best at all levels. Before you decide, read all the text and links in the information below because it will help you know what to look for in a camera.

Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder, image stabilizer, auto focus, and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.

There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

What gives a camera its picture quality?
The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.

Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen which is almost impossible to see in bright sun so you should try to find one that also has an optical view finder.

Check replacement battery prices when buying a new camera. Some proprietary batteries cost almost as much as the camera and may be only good for 200 shots between charges.

Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.

My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7 x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. canon is by far the best brand for digital cameras. if i were you id be looking for at least 10 megapixels, the red-eye correction feature, the blink detection feature, and face detection. the best camera with that is the canon powershot sd1200 for $200, or if you were willing to spend an extra $50 the canon powershot sd780, which has 12.5 megapixels in addition to the other features. but make sure you go to the canon website to check out the other features and the product tour and the ratings and reviews before buying.

How do you know which lenses fit your camera?

I have a sony a55 and I've been looking on amazon trying to get a 75-300 or something-300mm lens for my camera and a lot of them say for sony, nikon or canon digital camera or something like that. I want to be sure it works on mine though so how can I be 100% sure that they will fit mine?

Check that it supports the Sony A mount. It tends to say something like "Tamron 70-300mm for Sony"

The Tammy 70-300mm is by the way a decent lens for a low low price.

Your A55 has the a mount, aka the modern old minolta mount and will accept old minolta glass auto focus glass and Sony lenses. But also Sigma, Tamron and other brands lenses as long as they are...you guessed it A-mount. Made for use on the Sony!

Make sure you buy a lens with the right mount and it should work just fine. Now there is on caveat, there are allot of older manual focus lenses out of the film age. And there are adapters you can screw on them to allow you to use these older lenses with modern cameras.

Sometimes you find one of these oldies sold like a "panagor 135mm F2,8 for Sony" means that its a M42 or another mount lens with an adapter on it for Sony.

Now using old glass is fun but without AF so it is something you have to decide if you like it.

So your price range is 1,000 bucks or so? There is no T2, but there is a T2i. And Canon makes a T3 and T3i. The T2i is older, but apparently has slightly better image quality than the T3i (but it's not a noticeable difference). If you want the flippy-screen screen, get the T3i. Also consider the Nikon D3100 and D5100

I have narrowed my digital camera purchase down to the Canon SD line. I am looking at the 850is, the 750 and the 1000. The 850 and the 750 are very close in price and the 1000 is significantly cheaper. I can't seem to find many differences between the 3 and was wondering if anyone had any experience between any of these? Thanks

Alibaba.com has a lot of sources but as for all other trade portals, having "Trust Pass" or Gold Membership does not guarantee that the seller is legitimate, although the chances of them being legitimate is fairly higher.

I have sources for the Digital Cameras, as I, too, source for consumer electronics. If you tell me what you're looking for, I might be able to help you find the product you want.

You can use Trade Portals to find the goods but you have to check all their details. DO NOT USE Western union as a form of payment unless you have a contact in that Country (example; China) who can help incase something goes wrong.

You may also post for help on Alibaba.com in the resources section. As for payment options, paypal is not common in China but there is something that's called Alipay.com, similar to paypal.

I also have a small list of Canon wholesalers in the US. I personally researched them, they have phone numbers and addresses. One of them is in New York. I can sell the list to you if you wish to get this information. Just send me a message.
