Where To Get Cheap Canon SLR Camera?

HelloAbs

Hey Everybody,
I am looking for a Canon SLR camera, it is going to be for my birthday. I asked my Uncle who is a professional photographer and he said I should get a Canon SLR camera, a digital one though. I need a cheapie one though as it only needs to be for my leisure. Can anyone find me one that is £200 or under but it needs to be quite cheap but take good photos. Thanks!
abi

Answer
Actually the correct term is dslr... not an slr that's digital - just so you know.

There's no such camera for that money - won't happen. At the least you'll need, based on today's
conversion rates, about $400 pounds and that's the least expensive Canon dslr camera out there.

So, I happen to believe your uncle is correct because I'm a Canon owner... all you need is more
money.

How much Ringgit does Canon Powershot A640 digital camera cost in Kuala Lumpur & frm where can i get it cheap?

basilbc200

I am looking for any of the following camera models to buy from Kuala Lumpur,

Canon Powershot A640
Fujifilm FinePix F30
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5

Kindly send me the price in Ringgit and the best place to buy them for a reasonable price.....thanks a lot.

Answer
Probably the cheapest place in KL to get one is a shop in Low Yat Plaza. The ground and seconds floors are where most of the camera shops are.

Go to the first shop you see and ask them for their best price. Write it down, then go to the next shop ask if they can better it. If you do this you can probably get 10%-20% of the first asking price.

Once you have bought they will probably try and sell you some accessories, such as screen protectors and extra memory cards, to make a profit. Turn these offers down as you can probably get them cheaper elsewhere.

cheapest digital camera worth buying?

my godd

i need a cheap digital camera (probably somewhere around $90 to $150) that works really well? i want it to have all the basic scenery options and flash options and it wouldnt hurt if it was slim/thin. i want the display screen about "2. anyone know of a good camera that fits that criteria?
oh i forgot one more thing...i want it to have a rechargeable battery. pinktoez just reminded me of that lol
well thing is i have more money but my parents wont let me spend it all...so i have to buy a cheap camera and i have to have it by this weekend...so im out of luck. just please help me with an idea! i really dont care what brand it is or if its even a used camera i jsut need one! thanks in advance! =]

Answer
Dude. When the questioner says that she has a budget of $90-to-$150, why are you recommending a $250 camera?

I think best the camera in your price range is the Canon Powershot A550. It costs $135 at B&H and other retailers. You can use the rest of your budget to buy a decent memory card.

Go here and read an extensive review:
A550 review: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/a550.html

Check the sample images, too.

If you can spend just a little more, check for the A560. You gain one stop in ISO, it is a little faster in continuous mode and the LCD is 2.5" instead of 2".

Canon A560: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/a560.html

You will need to add a memory card and I suggest the Sandisk or Lexar brand in any speed. You will spend from about $20 for a 512 KB card, which is perfectly adequate, to about $40 for a Sandisk Ultra II, which is as good as you'd ever want for this or many other cameras.

My brother has the A540 and my mother-in-law has the A530 - on my recommendation - and neither one has stopped speaking to me yet. These are the models that were replaced by the A550 and A560.

The camera uses two "AA" batteries, but you can use any brand of rechargeable NiMH batteries. Four batteries and a charger would cost another $20-ish.

I'm surprised to see that Vic has not mentioned the Nikon L10, but this is also a decent camera in your prince range. I don't like the fact that it does not have an optical viewfinder, but most people aren't too worried about this feature in this price range.

Cheap Digital Cameras?

Smoo

I'm about to buy a camera but I need a cheap one. No more than over 125 dollars, But i'd still like a good one that takes good pictures and isn't slow. I heard that cannons are good, but I've had cameras in the past that i'd spend $200 or more and they were all crappy and didn't take good pictures because they'd be slow and blurry. So if anyone knows what good but cheap cameras I can get, Please let me know.
P.S, I live in Southern ontario.

Answer
Canon A495 is the best of the "cheap" cameras. You can find them online for around a hundred bucks.

$198.18. I don't know anything about this web site, but it was the cheapest I could find. I'm a professional photographer, and I purchase a lot of equipment from bhphotovideo.com and have always been happy with the service and pricing. They have it for a little under a hundred more then the first address. Also, I am a professional and know a lot about cameras and research and take classes about digital equipment. You don't need the 8 megapixal. You don't need the 6 megapixal for that matter either. Unless you are planning on cropping in heavily on pictures and blowing them up huge. A million people who know less about cameras will tell you otherwise, including amateur camera supply shops, but go to any professional supplier and they will tell you what I told you.

Cheapest AC Adapter for a Canon digital camera...?

Q. The camera is a Canon Powershot A590 IS.

The only charger I could find was $40 and I think there are cheaper ones out there, but I can't find one. I don't want to buy a whole kit because I already bought a kit for the camera, sans the charger because it was so expensive. When looking for it make sure it's the Powershoot version, because the plain A590 charger is the wrong charger!
I am not looking for a battery charger, what I am looking for is to plug the camera into a cord that plugs into a wall and provides the camera with energy/electricity.

Answer
There are many dual purpose charger/adapters available, both from specialist battery shops and on eBay. If you buy from an eBay camera accessories specialist who has good feedback and who has been around for a few years you should be pretty safe. Current limiting Lithium Ion chargers and adapters are very basic technology and use of high cost OE charging equipment is not really necessary.

I have a canon digital camera with a 4x optical zoom. what kind of lens do i look for to upgrade to higher zoom? I am pretty camera dumb but am getting into pics so want a camera that wont get blurry upon getting far a way pics.
I found telephoto lenses that are 3x does that mean that my new zoom would be 7x since I already have a 4x or does it replace what the camera already has? This is where I am getting confused.

Answer
Most cheaper non-DSLR cameras will not allow you to upgrade: the most you could hope to do is get an adapter piece and a telephoto mount for it.

This only works if you actually spent good money on that camera, though since most don't afford it. Plus, telephotos are not worth the money if the zoom is that low, so you should just get a new camera in my opinion.

Edit: A telephoto will compound with your camera's optical zoom, so 4x3 = 12x zoom.

I should warn that most telephotos tend to make it more difficult to hold your camera in a balanced way and usually require their own stands if you want a clean shot.

Answer
A lot of those too-cheap-to-be-true places, like broadwayphoto, are scam artists. Here are two sites to do quick background checks on stores with unbelievably low prices:
http://www.resellerratings.com
http://search.bbb.org

Or just shop at the following stores - guaranteed to have some of the lowest, legit prices anywhere:
http://www.adorama.com
http://www.amazon.com
http://www.beachcamera.com
http://www.bhphotovideo.com

So I'm looking for a new digital camera. I'm not sure which one to get. I DO know that I want a Canon digital camera, with no/minimal shutter delay and at least 10 Mega pixels or higher. Can anyone point me in the right camera direction? And I don't want a too terribly pricey one, but I know they aren't going to be cheap.
