digital cameras?

alex

I'm deciding on a digital camera. Is Kodak EasyShare C613 or C713 good cameras? Let's say I record a video. I know they both support video with sounds. When I playback the video on the Kodak EasyShare C613 camera, will the video be playing with the sounds? What other kinds of digital cameras would you recommend for $130 and down price?
Do all digital cameras that record video with sound play the sound during playback?

Answer
Hi there,

I would not go with Eastman Kodak Cameras. Kodak usually sale their camera for cheap, its because all their camera are usually made in China. The quality of the camera is not that good. I would recommend buying a Canon, but the problem is its going to be a little bit more expensive. I understand that you're on a budget of 130, but I'm pretty sure you can find a good Canon, Made in Japan camera for about 170 at best buy, with a 7.1 mp.

Good Luck

Best digital slr cameras, Nikon, Canon, Sony?

Oh So Ador

I'm looking for a digital slr camera.
Which brand would be the best?
Nikon, Canon, Sony, Kodak, or something else.
I'm looking at nikon's and sony's, right now.
So.. yeah.
THANKS!

Answer
Canon generally makes better lenses. This usually drives up their prices and can be a problem to the financially challenged.

Nikon is usually more technologically advanced. This is good for photographers that love rattling off their camera's specs.

Pentax is the most backward compatible with regards to its own older lenses. Their newest model, the K-x is now offered in dandy colors, sadly only in Japan at first.

Sony uses sensor sizes similar to the top three above and it's only drawback are its own lenses which they solved by offering the more superior Carl Zeiss lenses.

Kodak is a pioneer in digital photography and makes digital sensors for all camera brands. Sadly, their best dSLR camera was made eons ago during the early stages of dSLR development.

Other brands opted to use the smaller four-thirds format using a small sensor size than those brands above.

There is no best camera. It all depends on brand loyalty or salesmanship. If you ask me, they are all practically the same. As long as it has shutter and aperture control, it'll work for me. Maybe that's the reason I chose Pentax.

What country are nikon and canon dslr cameras made in? Japan? or no?

msmforever

I was just wondering where nikon and canon dslr cameras are made, i'm debating getting a d300 or a canon eos 50d and my first dslr camera. I don't want to keep upgrading so i decided to just get a high end one and keep learning on it.

Also, how long would these last with daily use? I'm not a professional photographer, but I do like taking casual pictures. I would take pictures when I go out with friends, go out in the garden to take some pictures of flowers, rabbits running around, birds flying, and other photographic-ish things. I have used my canon G10 "wanna be slr" to the max of it's abilities.

So now my question is are these two cameras made in japan? and how long can I expect them to last since it is a BIG investment in a camera.... Also, thoughts on which of the two would be better?

Answer
A Nikon D300 or Canon 50D is far, far, far too much camera to buy for casual use making snapshots of friends and bunnies in the garden.

You would do much better with a Nikon D40 or Canon Rebel. Don't spend more money buying a camera that you will never fully make use of. Use the money you save to buy additional lenses which are far more important and last far longer than camera bodies.

All digital cameras are technologically obsolete in 2 years but you can expect them to keep making pictures for years longer.

I would like to know if Canon digital cameras are made in Japan?

A.B.

Canon Powershot A590-IS is the one camera I am interested the most.

Thanks in advance

Answer
Most cameras are made in Malaysia, Thailand, or Tawain nowadays. Call Canon or go to the store and look on the display cameras or on the boxes.

Digital Camera?

CrazygirlD

Ok I am looking for a good relatively inexpensive digital camera. between 200-300 dollars. But I know NOTHING about them. I want it small and compact, so I can carry it easily when I go on trips. Any suggestions?

Answer
Check out the made in Japan, Canon PowerShot SD1000 ELPH - 7 megapixel camera which is powered by a proprietary rechargeable lithium battery to produce around 115 shots using the LCD or 220 shots via the viewfinder. The 2.5" LCD consists of 225,000 pixels [vs. the competition that's 115,000] and is photo quality. The video with sound is top drawer. This is an ultracompact that fits into your shirt pocket.

It sells for $176.00 at samys.com

Good luck!

Film lens for my digital camera?

I shoot with Canon 5D mk1 and I am planning to buy some film lens. I was looking at carl zeiss and voigtlander. I know somebody who uses a zeiss 50mm and an adapter for canon. I don't mind not having the auto focus since I shoot manual. I really like the sharpness and the colors it produces. I do own a couple of "L" and a prime. Any advise and websites where I can research?
Thanks

Answer
Carl Zeiss makes 50 mm lenses specifically for Canon and Nikon cameras

Some history from Ken Rockwell's website:

"Some years ago Zeiss licensed Kyrocera of Japan to use the name Zeiss on some lenses. Zeiss decided to put these former Contax mount lenses in Nikon mounts instead, and that's how we get these ZF lenses. This lens was not made in Germany and it was not made in a Zeiss factory. It is made in Japan by Cosina." - KR

Here is an adapter for Voigtlander to EOS camera.

http://www.rugift.com/photocameras/voigtlander-retina-canon-dslr-adapter.htm

You will notice that you will be using this lens in the fully manual mode.

For clarity, there is no such thing as a "film" lens. ALL Canon EF lenses are designed to be used on either 35 mm EOS cameras, full frame digital cameras (1D and 5D series) and any of the Canon EOS cropped sensor cameras.

Will these canon lenses work on another canon camera?

davidjglov

I was at an auction the other day and bought a box lot containing a Canon EOS 650 body and two lenses. Esentially my question is, will these two lenses work on other Canon cameras.

Wiki says the following:"The EOS (650) system featured the new EF lens mount, which used electrical signals to communicate between the camera and the lens. Focusing and aperture control were performed by electric motors mounted in the lens body. The EF mount is still used on Canon SLRs, including digital models. Canon's previous FD mount lenses are incompatible with EOS bodies."

So I'm guessing these should work on newer cameras based on wiki's info.

I'D LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANY PHOTOGRAPHERS WHO CAN TELL ME FOR SURE IF THESE LENSES (FROM ~1988) WILL WORK ON, SAY, A T3i OR SIMILAR CANON PRODUCT.

All the information writen on teh lenses is as follows:

1)Canon Lens EF 50mm 1:1.8 Made in Japan 1053713
2)Canon Zoom Lens EF 80-200mm 1:4.5-5.6

Answer
Both of those lenses will work with any Canon DSLR.

The 50mm is still in production in MkII form. I suspect that yours is the much sought after Mk 1 with distance scale and metal mount - a real gem of a lens if it is in good clean condition.

I have found this camera online for a mere £330 which is around £200 cheaper than the 500D version. My question is if I buy the japanese version will I have any complications with things like memory card and lens compatibility and also menus, power and video format? Should this camera be fine to use and have no notable issues apart from needing a universal adapter to charge the battery?

Thanks

Answer
The Canon EOS 550D is an 18.0 megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera, announced by Canon on

February 8, 2010.[1] It was made available starting February 24, 2010[2] and to US dealers starting

early March.[3] It is known as the EOS Kiss X4 in Japan, and as the EOS Rebel T2i in North America.

[4] It continues the entry level digital SLR camera series (known as Rebel line in North America) of

Canon, and is currently placed by Canon as the successor model to the EOS 500D, and has been superseded by the EOS 600D (T3i

I'm planning to buy a camera,
i've done some research on cnet and have found two that are really nice

The Canon SD750, and
The Canon SD870

I need some advices which one i should purchase because they both are really awesome, with sleek designs, and high megapixels

Answer
Go to the website dpreview.com where they give you great reviews on all digital cameras. They also give you user reviews which I found very helpful. I have the SD750 and think its a great little camera. Made in Japan, metal body, large scratch resistant screen, and a real long battery life along with great pictures are just some of the things I really like about this camera. No complaints.

I am looking to replace the clear window in front of the lcd on a Kodak EASYSHARE M530 digital camera?

Q. The clear back window in front of the screen is scratched pretty bad and i cannot find anywhere to replace it. i even contacted Kodak and they do not sell a replacement. PLEASE HELP!

I plan to buy a Canon digital camera (IXUS 800 IS) 6 MP but I noticed there is a version on ebay (Ixy 900i) which is the Japanese market version. Is the Ixy made in Japan and the Ixus made in China? Is there any difference in quality in that case? What do you recommend? thankx

Answer
No difference just warrenties. The IXY comes with ONLY the international warrienty while the SD cameras come with the America warriteny.

Canon S5 IS digital cameras made in Japan or China. Is there a difference, if so what???

Big B-Man

I've been looking on Ebay for this digital camera. People always ask if it's made in Japan or China. Is quality better or is it just loyalty for ones own country? Please help on this matter. Thanks Yahoo Ask members.

Answer
Canon makes cameras where it is cheapest. They do not have 1 factory in Japan and another in China making the same camera. This is a myth. Just buy the S5 if dats what U want. Old salesman trick: oh, don't get the Chinese version, you want the expensive Japanese version. If they try dat with U, find another store.
