Cheap, But good picture quality digital cameras.?

Elizabeth

Ok so I want to get a new digital camera and I wanted some advice on a camera that is reasonably priced, but still takes really good quality pictures. It seems that every camera I get they do not take as clear as pictures as I want and the shutter is slow. I want it to be small enough that it's not a hassle to carry it in my pocket and/or bag.The price to be under under or around $300....ok...thanks. :)
Ps. I know 300 isn't exactly cheap but I know from experiance trying to just get the cheap one and it will work fine....but I'm kind of tired of crappy lens's, zoom, shutter...ect. But I still don't want to buy the $2000 dsrl....

Answer
around $300 is not cheap. You would do just fine with digital cameras are around $150-$170 and would HIGHLY recommend Canon over any other brand. Sometimes people would rather have a camera that "looks good" rather than a camera that is durable and takes great pictures (i never understand those people) and they go and purchase Sony or something, and i just cannot believe that someone has recommended you to purchase Panasonic? WTF? Buy a camera from brand names that have been in the photography business for years (Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Kodak). If you want durability, ease of use, camera that is going to last you for a long time, and take superb pictures, than all the arrows point to Canon. Check out sites like Newegg, they usually will give you a free SD card, free shipping, etc., i recently bought a camera as a gift from Target and none of the cameras come with a memory card, what a rip-off.

Which camera takes better pictures, Canon Digital Rebel XT or Nikon D80? ?

JYayAD

I'm not a good photographer or anything like that, but on the side I show and breed dogs. I have my own website and try to put up the best pictures of my dogs posing and when they in action running. I have gotten decent pictures with my SONY CYBER-SHOT DSC-H1 5.1 MEGA PIXEL but when I look at other breeders pictures I think a few of them have much better picture quality. I have asked around and a lot of people told me for a person looking for a decent camera without spending too much to get either a Canon Digital Rebel XT or Nikon D80. So here are my questions:

#1-Do you think I will get a significant better picture quality with one of these cameras than with my Sony Cyber Shot DSC-H1?

#2-Which one of these camera's is better do you think, Canon Digital Rebel XT or Nikon D80?

#3-Is there a certain "setup"/"lense" that you prefer with one of these, I'm not looking to spend a lot of money.

Answer
This is not meant to be a "flip" answer but it sounds like you need to change your thinking somewhat. The Sony is not a "professional" camera but it should be fine for getting good basic shots that will make excellent Web shots or moderate enlarged prints. It has a "Sports" mode that should be good for action shots in field trials, etc. and a "Portrait" mode that should work well for close ups.

Point one - Pictures are not "taken" they are made, exposures are "taken" when the photographer presses the shutter release. But the picture is MADE by the composition, lighting and selection of settings along with choosing the right instant to take the exposure and interaction with the subject. In addition, processing and artistic application of techniques can improve (or impair) a photograph significantly.

Point two - A camera or lens is only a tool for creating the image. Selecting the right tool for the job is very much a personal choice but buying a $250 power tool will not make anyone a better carpenter or mechanic.

Point Three - Getting a more complicated camera will, in many cases, LOWER the quality of your pictures because you will be concentrating on making the camera work, not capturing the image.

My suggestion is that you get a book on animal/pet photography or take a course on the subject BEFORE you invest a lot of time and effort into getting a new camera and learning to use it.

Great Quality Digital Cameras?

Emma

I'm 14 and I'm really interested in photography and editing. I want a versatile camera where I can hang out and take pictures of my friends, but also one that can take beautiful pictures of scenery and such. I want high quality photos! (: Also, if there is one that has a video camera with it, that would be great but not necessary.

Thanks in advance,
Emma(:

Answer
At least 10 - 30 times a day someone on YA asks: "Which one is a good camera to buy?"
A quick search would have given you hundreds of replies, but once again here is my 10 cents on the subject:

Point & Shoot cameras are wonderfully handy because of their small size.
When light conditions are ideal, they even take really nice photos - all of them do.

However, they all DO have limitations - they don't do very well in low light situations (i.e. noisy photos, hard to avoid blur, etc). The little onboard flash is very harsh at close range, and doesn't reach very far.
Many of them have no manual functions, so you are limited to only very basic photos, you can't compensate for unusual situations, or do many fun "tricks" and special effects.
P&S's also suffer from frustrating shutterlag and many of them chew through batteries rather quickly.

However, if you're ok with all those limitations, then go ahead and pick one, most of them (the same type and same price range) are rather similar. Personally I would pick either a Canon or a Nikon, and would certainly stay away from Kodak.

A higher end P&S will give you more manual options and better quality. Many of those even give you the option of adding a proper flash (which makes a big difference to your flash photos).

Don't worry too much about megapixelsâ¦. there is a limit to how many pixels you can squash into a tiny P&S sensor before you actually LOSE quality rather than gain it.
Don't worry about digital zoom, in fact, don't EVER use it. It simply crops away pixels, i.e. destroys information. The only real zoom is optical.

Decide which features are important to you, and look for cameras that have that feature.
Then go compare a few models on www.dpreview.com .

The very best thing you can do for your success is to borrow some books and learn about photography. A bit of knowledge will make a much bigger difference to your photos than your choice of P&S camera can.

For what it's worth - if I was in the market for a P&S camera right now, my choice would be a Canon Powershot SX10 IS http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=17630

digital camera?

Q. What is the best digital camera to buy? My price limit is $300.?
I just want to take pictures of my friends and family. I also need it because I am going on 3 vacations this summer. I want the pictures to be clear. I never had a cam b4 so I don't want a hi tech one I can not figure out... also name the model please

Answer
Canon PowerShot A630--top drawer camera with 8 megapixels (means sharper pictures) and decent zoom (4x). The only drawback is it is a little bulky--won't fit in a shirt pocket. It has a cool swivel viewscreen, though, that enables you to take pics of yourself or whatever without using the timer (which it also has). I've owned one of these for about a year, and have been fully pleased with it--it takes good pictures of everything from my kids to nature to stuff I put on ebay :)

If you are willing to sacrifice a bit of picture quality for a smaller camera (and gain a larger, but no swivel, view screen), go with the PowerShot SD600.

Hope that helps!

I'm looking for a digital camera that is 0.8inches deep and can easily slide into my pocket. Does the Sony T300 or Canon SD790 have better picture quality. If it's the same I will just get the Sony because it looks better, what do you think. Any thoughts from owners of either camera is appreciated as well. Thank you.

Does a camera take quality pictures or does it depend on the printing place?

canon digital camera best picture quality on best sellers the new york times best sellers children s books ...
canon digital camera best picture quality image

Adalwa

I use a canon and taking the picture the quality is good but when it comes to printing it sucks. I wanted to know if I should buy one of those high tech huge big cameras to take quality pics or just a normal camera that would do like my canon digital camera?

The end result I want my picture quality on paper to look very good, glossy, and natural like what we see in professional photographer pics.

Answer
1. Get the best out of your pictures:
Ensure that the settings are right and that you actually make good pictures. Set the right white balance, focus settings etc before the shoot. But don't worry automatic works usually to.

2. Not every foto printing service is as good it is worth it trying a few out and reading reviews. The cheaper ones don't have to be bad.

I have a question about different digital camera models?

Courtney C

I am looking to buy a Canon digital camera. I realize that there are many different models. I was wondering if the later models, or the ones with higher numbers (ex. SD1000 & SD850) are better than the others. Also, I am looking for very good image quality, reletivley small sized,at least 7 mega
pixels, and the option to enlarge pictures without them losing their quality. Which Canon model do you think I would be best off buying?

Answer
There is no definite rule for determining quality or features, especially from a company that makes so many models. The best thing to do is compare reviews of the models that have a feature set you are interested in. To see a fairly objective review of different camera models try some of the on line web sites.

I like Steve's Digicams because there are reviews of many cameras, it is pretty open minded (fair) and has a very consistent testing method. Each review is divided into sections and has one called Steve's Conclusion that summarizes the good & bad features of the camera.

The site is also very well organized so you can find cameras by mfg., no of MP or when it was reviewed and there are many links to additional information.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
