New camera questions?

Halea

I got a new camera today and I had a few questions about it. Its a fujifilm, digital camera, finepix sl1000 series. 1) I was wondering if fujifilm is a good camera brand. 2) How does the battery life last (because mine, on the first day, isnt very good) 3) How is it at taking sports pictures ?(football, baseball, basketball) 4) How much was this camera in the store? (My mom paid about $400 with a discount she found and I was wondering the real price of it.) 5) How is this camera/price compared to a cannon or nikon camera about the same type/price 6) What is the thing on the top (by the microphone or speaker) it looks like something can slide into it, but it doesnt say in the manual 7) Why does the screen rotate up and down ? (also doesnt say in the manual about this)8) What can I do to make taking sports(fast moving) pictures more clear and crisp? (besides doing the 9 pictures continuous button, or clicking the camera button over and over and over) I'll take any help on any of the answers ! Any help is appriciated ! Thanks so much!!

Answer
1) I was wondering if fujifilm is a good camera brand
Ans - Excellent brand, technologies used in fuji camera are better than Canon and Nikon cameras.

2) How does the battery life last (because mine, on the first day, isnt very good)
Ans. Depend upon usage, will capture 400+ shot

3) How is it at taking sports pictures ?(football, baseball, basketball)
Ans. Continuous Shooting: 10fps, you can capture 10 images in 1 sec, [class leading frame rate]

4) How much was this camera in the store
Ans MRP is $399.95, Available at $329.00 online

5) How is this camera/price compared to a cannon or nikon camera about the same type/price
Ans. Canon S5X0 HS cost you $450, Nikon no announced any 50X optical zoom camera, we are also waiting.

6) What is the thing on the top (by the microphone or speaker) it looks like something can slide into it, but it doesnt say in the manual
Ans. Its hotshoe for external flash.

7) Why does the screen rotate up and down ? (also doesnt say in the manual about this)
Ans. The SL1000 is equipped with both a rear LCD monitor and an eye-level electronic viewfinder for monitoring and reviewing imagery. The 3.0" 920k-dot LCD monitor features a tiltable design that allows you to angle the monitor either up or down to better suit shooting from high and low angles. The electronic viewfinder also has a 920k-dot resolution and has a built-in eye sensor to deactivate the larger LCD monitor during use. The EVF enables eye-level shooting, which provides an additional point of contact to better aid in steadying your camera while shooting.

8) What can I do to make taking sports(fast moving) pictures more clear and crisp? (besides doing the 9 pictures continuous button, or clicking the camera button over and over and over) I'l
Ans. At 10 full resolution frames per sec the AF remains fixed.
The auto focusing speed of 0.2 second, to grapb a moving object you have to press the shutter button by shutter button.

Additional features

RAW+JPEG Mode
In addition to default JPEG file format, the FinePix SL1000 also offers the option of RAW or RAW + JPEG image formats. SILKYPIX® viewer and RAW conversion software is included for effortless management and conversion of RAW image data on your PC.

Motion Panorama 360
Just sweep the camera right-left or up-down to shoot giant panoramas up to 360°. When you view the panorama playing back on your camera or personal computer, you can enjoy a seamless panorama image with both ends stitched together to create a âcylinderâ view.

3D Shooting with "Individual Shutter 3D"
Two exposures of the same scene are saved in Multi-Picture Format (MPO) to create convincing images that appear to have been shot in real 3D. An overlapping guide on the LCD screen provides assistance for positioning the exposures, making it easy for anyone to create impressive 3D effects. And FUJIFILM's proprietary high-resolution 3D print system produces natural, beautiful 3D prints from images captured with the FinePix SL1000.

Hi - I am looking to spend about £200 on a new camera - I will be buying it from Kuala Lumpur so can probably get a better deal out there
I want to be able to zoom in quite a lot - for example taking photos of animals so they come out well instead of just a dot!
Needs to be digital - any suggestions??

Answer
you should get a canon or a nikon. those are the best two camera companys out there. my sister has a larger canon that gets up to 12X optical zoom and about 50X digital zoom. its a great camera but its more expensive. the suggested retail price for it is $350. that is in american dollars so you might be able to find it on sale and since the american dollar is worth less you can probably get it for close to what you want. its the best camera i know that you can take pictures of animals from a far distance and still see the picture. my whole family has canons and they are all really good quality. they wont let you down!

Here is the site for the camera i was talking about.
