I just got my Christmas money and i really want a digital camera, and i only wanna spend about $100. I have heard so many reviews about the Samsung 8.1MP Digital Camera but i dont know if its good or not. what is a good camera to get for around $100???? please help!

Answer
Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder, image stabilizer, auto focus, and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.
Canon A590IS $129.99 at Staples yesterday.
http://bountii.com/deal-1523871-canon-powershot-8-0-megapixel.html ...

There is no one particular place to get great buys, but you may see something above that really helps you find the best buy. Click on the link in the information above for an example then search for your camera of choice at the upper left. Camera prices at this link change often.

While most of the cameras out there are really good, I would choose Canon over Nikon because it seems like more camera for the money. Some would say Canon withholds their best technology for high end cameras and Nikon implements their best at all levels. Before you decide, read all the text and links in the information below because it will help you know what to look for in a camera.

There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

What gives a camera its picture quality?
The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.

In new cameras, look for optical viewfinders (LCD invisible in bright sun) and check battery prices. High mega pixel settings take longer to process and may not be needed unless required for very large pictures or enlarging small parts of big pictures. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches. Click links below for more details.

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.

My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7 x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. You may be able to view owners manuals at this link, but will need to Login. http://www.retrevo.com/s/digital+camera ...

i have bought cannos sd 630 . But i know there is latest model of canon digital camera in the market . So i want to know what can i do with my cannos sd 630 and what can't i do ?

Answer
The Canon SD 630 is a very good compact camera.
I don't think you should worry about the other models for now. I would wait till next year to see what is coming out.
They are...
SD800 IS, 7.1 MP, 3.7x optical
SD900, 10MP, 3x optical
A630, 8MP, 4x optical but larger in size
The two SD models just have more megapixels and the newer processor.
And the SD630 has the same excellent movie mode...and has a large 3.0" LCD.
Just make sure you use a fast SD card.

Check replacement battery prices when buying a new camera. Some Lithium batteries cost almost as much as the camera and may be only good for 200 shots between charges.

Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.

what is the best brand camera I can buy ?

care4meall

The circuit city Rep told me that anything over 8 megapixels is good and optical zoom is very important...I was going to purchase a canon...But I think I have changed my mind and decided to purchase a Fuji Digital Camera with 10 megapixel and 13 optical zoom....Would this be a good choice ?

Answer
All of the major brands are good. Choose a brand that appeals to you. Then you have to think about getting a spare battery, what size memory card, if you want an extended warranty, how much you can afford, what size zoom, if you want manual controls, the size of the camera, finding a reliable place to purchase it, and the list goes on and on and on.......

The first thing to realize is that almost any digital camera will take good pictures. If more people would read the manual more than once, they would be able to take better pictures. Usually, the person assumes it is the camera when it could be them not knowing exactly what to do. Just give yourself more photographic knowledge by doing more reading on the internet.

I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras so they can decide on the features that they really want and need.
Go to the store and hold them so you can see if they feel comfortable in your hands. If possible, take some pictures in the store to check the quality of the pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.
Good Luck

Need recommendations for a digital camera.?

NicalaMH

I am looking for a good, solid digital camera for taking some amateur photos. I'm not looking for any kind of serious, professional camera, and a relatively small, cheap one would be nice.

I think I will be doing a *lot* of landscapes and weather (skies, sunsets, panoramas, things like that) but obviously, I'd like a reasonably versatile camera, to take shots of my friends and family also.

My budget is about $250-ish NZ dollars, so approx $150 USD, I think. a camera around that price would be good.

So if anyone could recommend a camera that suits my specifications, I would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance. =)

Answer
I have had a Kodak EasyShare and they take really nice pictures but the thing I didn't like was that if you took a video you could play it back on the camera, but it wouldn't have sound. Most of those cameras are around $100-$150. I also really like the Sony Cyber-Shot. It takes good pictures of like sunsets and snow scenes. It doesn't go all bright. I've heard a lot of good things about the Canon PowerShot, too. It's under $200 so that's around your range. Check out the website I used as a source. It show the top 5 cameras under $200. Hope this helped!

What is the best Profesional Digital camera today?

Answer
Dr. Sam is right, even with professional cameras, one size does not fit all. It depends on if you're doing studio work or shooting sports, etc. And although pros are as gear crazy as the rest of us, they buy cameras as a business investment - they won't get the latest & greatest unless that's what they absolutely need to get the job done.
Still, if I had to name just one camera, it would be the Canon 1Ds Mk ll: metal body, 17 megapixels, 3 frames per second, $7000. Reserve another $7000 for lenses.
The 1Ds Mk ll is in stock here, in case you want to place an order (or just look at the specs): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=354004&is=REG&addedTroughType=search
Runners up: the Nikon D2Xs (12 megapixels, 8 frames per second, $4250) and the new Canon 1D Mk lll (10 megapixels, 10 frames per second, $4500).

What's better; A Digital SLR camera or a Bridge Camera?

The Joker'

Hi.
I need a camera because I want to learn more about photography. I do some photography and would like to expand my range. Here's some of my works... http://natters619.deviantart.com/gallery/33989366

Anyway, I wondered what sort of camera would be good for me. You're help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
It depends what you want.
Bridge cameras have their benefits like only needing one lens, smaller, lighter

But for quality and control a DSLR is the winner. if you want to go lower something like a canon 1100D or nikon D3100 (~£350-500)

Good midrange units are canon 600d or nikon d5100 (~£600)
Slightly higher sony alpha 77 or nikon d7000 (£750-900)

If you want a cheaper professional camera then canon 7D (superb, I have one), nikon D300s, pentax k7 (~£1000)

Or for the full frame pro stuff. Canon 5d mk iii, nikon d800 (£2500) ... Canon 1dx, nikon d4 (£4500)

I hoe this helps

How to set up and use a Canon 650D digital camera?

canon digital camera software download on open source, Free Software, FreeSoftware, Freesoftware, free software ...
canon digital camera software download image

Geb

How can I set up a new Canon 650D digital camera and what are suitable hardware and software that I could buy to use with the camera to view, edit and print my photographs.
Also explain how to set it up and maintain it.

Answer
Explain how to set up and maintain the Canon DSLR. Tells me that you bought a DSLR because everybody on this site told you too. Now you are faced with how to operate the darn thing. Simply put you bought more camera than you should have. Well the only thing is to make the best of it.

LETS ADDRESS YOUR QUESTIONS FIRST:
1.You should not get into editing beyond the simple cropping that processors offer for now, you have enough on your plate. I always use a store in my community for most of my pictures.. I do not go into their store except to "pick-up" my order. I use their web site to crop, & order my prints. I don't like putting my memory card into machines that have been abused by every "Tom, Dick & Harry!"
COMPUTER UPLOADING: buy & use a memory card reader ($6.00) instead of the camera to computer cord that drives people nuts.
2. Hardware; there is no hardware to buy now or ever. If you are referring to lenses, you do not have the experience now to go out and spend money on lenses that YOU really don't have a need for yet.
SOFTWARE: you should have connected your camera to your computer for any up dates to your camera, when you first got your camera. Make this a once a year project. When I connected my camera, the web site updated the cameras software so I could use the (then) new SDHC memory cards.
3. Set the camera up and maintain it. Starting backwards unless you use some other size battery you should get yourself about 3 sets of double "A" rechargeable batteries. The best brand are Eneloop. Buy together with a battery charger is the most economical way. If you have a different size battery buy two extras batteries, or at least one. Keep batteries charged , what ever size you use.
4. NECK STRAP- Yahoo does not like it when I use capitals all the time BUT this is perhaps the most important thing you can do. Always wear the neck strap. You drop this camera, be warned-dropping is NOT covered under warranty! The camera belongs in two places only, around your neck or in the gadget bag! Not carry by it's strap in your hands (like that blasted Nikon commercial implies!)
5.Auto setting, most people who own DLSR's recommend against using the "Auto" setting. But I recommend YOU use it until you become familiar with your camera.

I also recommend you invest in some easy to read books by Scot Kelby. He writes in a very easy to read style. I have a few because at first digital was foreign to me coming from a film environment.
The really nice thing about his books beyond the understanding factor is his web site. He often refers you to his web site to make visual presentations easier to understand! This is a real plus for me.
And while we are on the subject of reading you should check amazon for a good book on your model camera. Instruction books are often hard to read because it seems they do not employ "tech" writers anymore and you are left with what is left.

That is enough on your plate!

Good Luck

P.S. I just read "Jim A's" advise on the manual. He is correct but I take it one step further. I download and PRINT the manual, leaving out simple things I already know like putting batteries in the camera etc. I take the remaining pages to a large place like Staples and have them cut and spiral bind the rest. I carry this home made manual with me should I encounter a situation I am not familiar with.
All this editing and preparing also enhances my knowledge of the camera and I find I have less & less to refer to. And while I am on my soapbox, get your backside out there and shoot and shoot. Experience is the best teacher!

How to recover deleted photos/videos from a digital camera (canon)?

Bandito

I accidently deleted pictures on my canon digital camera, and i know i need cardrecovery or other photo recovery tools to install. But then i dunno how. I have installed the cardrecovery software and it says first connect your camera or the memory card to your computer. " I did that". Then i need to know what the drive letter is? I have no clue about this. I think it must be D:.

Can someone help me by telling me step by step how i can get my precious fotos back. For free if possible.

Thanks

Answer
Hi, here is the steps might be helpful to you:
1. Connect the memory card to computer. Under "My Computer", note the drive letter assigned to your camera's memory card (usually G: or H:).
2. Download this program on your compute. here is the link: http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
3. Install and start the program. then select the drive where your lost files located, click Start. Now the scanning process will start to search the deleted files. After a while you will then get a list of recoverable files.
4. Press Recover to perform full recovery.

What digital camera is the best at picking up details for black and white photography?

canon digital camera 4000 image

I have an Olympus C-4000 and It takes good photos but doesn't get the details I want. I'm hoping to find a camera under $600. I want something that picks up lots of details from far away and up close. I take a lot of nature photos and I'm starting to try portraits.

Answer
Not sure exactly what you mean by 'details'.

A Hasselblad H3D is going to give you the best tonality for Black & White conversions. The Nikon D700 or Canon 5D Mark II would be adequate. I have not seen an APS-C camera that can really do B&W well.

"I want something that picks up lots of details from far away and up close."

If you are talking about physical details then you might look into prime macro lenses and telephoto lenses.

http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/lens/dea/products/lens/50_20M/index.asp

***

If you are truly serious about B&W you should look into a Mamiya RZ67 and Ilford Pan F, Tri-X or XP2. Film is still best for B&W imagery.

Is there a digital camera, or IP Camera or something like that, which can last up to 1 million photos?

gabibyte

I need one to build a machine which can take photos of envelopes which fall, and read data from the pictures(barcode). So it has to have a good sensor to get some quality in the photo and probably be able to take photos at 1/4000 shutter speed or something like that. The shutter must last for 1 MILLION photos. Any ideas?

Answer
Since the best camera system for this application would be a video camera, 1 million images shouldn't be too hard. That way you get an electronic shutter, no moving parts.

Not able to recommend anything specific, but you would be better served looking at industrial vision cameras. You aren't going to meet your specs with a Canon powershot or anything similar.

Hey,

Your budget is..? More or less than 500$?

Here are the models I recommend:
- Canon EOS XS
- Canon EOS XSi
- Canon EOS T2i
- Nikon D3000
- Nikon D5000
- Nikon D90

The T2i, D5000 and D90 have video recording.

Here's a post called 'Buying a DSLR, what's important, megapixels, features, quality, brand, price and which models from 400$+ are good (amazon links too). Here - http://the-digital-photographer.blogspot.com/2010/02/buying-sdhc-memory-card.html

Good luck.

What is the best digital camera out there?

Shroomy

I am looking for a really good digital camera that an amateur like myself can easily use.
I prefer something from Canon, Nikon, or Samsung, but I'm not too picky about the brand.
The price doesn't matter as long as it's not too expensive.
It needs to be something that doesn't die right away, and I would like it to be pretty small.

Thanks!

Answer
I would suggestion these are good quality digital cameras (take good pictures, good of megapixel, good zoom, small) and inexpensive :

How to set up and use a Canon 650D digital camera?

best canon digital camera for the money image

Experience is the best teacher!

what mic should i use for my digital camera?

Danielle

I have a powershot A2300 canon digital camera and was wondering what inexpensive mic I should get for it so I will have good sound and audio quality. I also have a sony DCR-SX85 camcorder and was wondering if they could take the same mic or not. I am also wondering if I need a any other equipment besides a mic because I don't want to spend that much money. thank you sorry about all the questions.

Answer
You can't plug a mic into your camera, so an external mic isn't going to help.

Sticking with the on-board mic is not a good option either, as I'm sure you've noticed.

That leaves a Portable Digital Recorder as your best option. Something like this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/757065-REG/Tascam_DR_05_DR_05_Portable_Handheld_Digital.html is what you want. You record your video on the camera and your audio on the device, then mix the two in post. You just replace the audio recorded by the camera with the audio recorded by the device.

best canon digital camera for wildlife photography image

Clio Delan

Before I go off to university, I want to purchase a high quality digital camera that is used by professional photographers. I plan to take courses and minor in photography, and I would like to know what is the best camera. I currently use a Canon Powershot digital camera, but I want to venture on to a bigger camera that better resembles a film camera. I mostly use my camera to capture close-ups of wildlife, both flora and fauna, but I hope to expand to taking pictures of people and landscapes as well.

Any suggestions?

Which digital camera would you recommend to suit my budget?

sora_pando

I'd like a new digital camera for my upcoming cruise to Alaska. Something with a good zoom would probably come in handy, as I hope to capture some wildlife on film.

I am by no means a professional, so I want something simple to understand. Also, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg here. Something between 100 and 300 bucks would be ideal.

Answer
Canon PowerShot SX100 IS - full auto mode, as well as manual options in case you ever decide you'd like to learn a bit photography to improve your results.

Answer
Canon PowerShot A1300 16.0 MP Digital Camera with 5x Digital Image Stabilized Zoom 28mm Wide-Angle Lens with 720p HD Video Recording Great camera for the price. Purchased the camera in May 2012 to shoot family events, friends ect. You could not ask for a better price vs performance camera. Very simple to use, excellent picture and video quality. I would suggest getting a cushioned camera case that includes the USB thumb drive reader for $10, the case is perfect for travel and storage when not in use. The USB reader is a great option when offloading the memory card.

What is the best Camera to get that cost $100or less?

Answer
Cheap and good don't go together. You bought a fine camera--get a good (and costly) memory card. This is like putting cheap gas in your brand new BMW.

What memory card does the Canon eos 7D use?

Akuhei Ryo

I plan to buy a Canon 7D and needed to know what kind of card it uses, can anyone help? And maybe the best prices for the card?

Answer
The 7D uses CF cards, the same ones used by the 5D and 1D Canon cameras

All this information is on the Canon website. Is there a reason you did not check there first?

How should I clean oil off my digital camera?

canon digital camera 5d price on Canon EOS 7D Rumor - Digital Camera Reviews & Photography Tips
canon digital camera 5d price image

jeff.hogie

It's an odd story, but long story short ... my digital camera has been emerged in engine oil (clean).

What is the best way for me to get all the oil off and clean it? This would include the LCD display screen, the lens, etc... I have already wiped it down with paper towels, but there is still an oily microfilm coating it.

I will appreciate any advice and suggestion, thanks in advance!

- Jeff

Answer
Jeff, your camera is likely ruined. I'd say there is a 99% chance that the oil seeped inside the camera so your only option would be sending it off for an internal as well as external cleaning and unless your camera is a Nikon D3 or D700 or Canon 1Ds Mark III or 5D Mark II or Sony A900 (cameras priced from $3,000.00 to $8,000.00 for just the body) it will be cheaper to just buy a new camera.

I believe you meant to say your camera was immersed in oil. It emerged from the oil when you removed it.

I want to purchase a Canon 5d as a gift, but don't have the financial resources. Any suggestions?

My boyfriend REALLY wants a Canon 5d, and I would like to buy him one. I don't have the cash or credit to get one at Best Buy, so I was wondering any suggestions on getting one used that would still have the quality of a new one. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

Answer
You don't need to buy a used one to afford it. Buy a new one for the price of a used camera. Here are the online stores I know that sell digital cameras for a very low price compared to Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, etc. etc.
www.preferredphoto.com (i saved $80 from buying a new camera here compared to what it costs on Sony's website, hacker safe with buyer protection)
www.buydig.com (a very reliable webstore with postive buyer's/customer reviews, hacker safe with buyer protection)
those are my top 2 webstores. below are the additional online stores that offer good prices:

www.butterflyphoto.com
www.newegg.com
www.abesofmaine.com

and more!
Goodluck and may you be able to buy one! =)

Should I get a Nikon or a Cannon digital camera?

canon digital camera vs nikon on Olympus 790 SW vs Polaroid Instant Digital Camera - Our Analysis
canon digital camera vs nikon image

carolinexo

I recently acquired some money and I have slightly less than $600 left and wanted to spend all or some of it on a high quality digital camera.

I have taken only one photography class and I'm 17 so I'm obviously not a professional. But I am interested in photography and I wanted to get a camera that would be a good fit for a beginner but that is of high quality.

After doing a little research I found that Canon and Nikon are basically the same in terms of quality but I'm also looking for one under $600. So my question is, which brand should I look more into if I'm looking for a relatively cheap digital camera for beginners, that can produce high quality photos with good color rendition regardless of the lighting? Or in other words, which of cameras' flash will provide the most accurate exposure? I will mostly be photographing animals(so that includes action and close-ups), scenery, and people.

Thanks in advance :)

Answer
That budget will get you an entry level (or possibly just up) DSLR from either Nikon or Canon. Which one you choose depends on your personal preference (it's like Coke vs Pepsi).

Go into a camera store & ask to try both out - get the 'feel' of both, menu choices, button positions etc & buy whichever one is right for you - you can't go wrong with either, they are both good cameras.

A DSLR is really the only way to go if you are serious about photography & are willing to put the time & effort into learning about the basics of photography (ISO, aperture & shutter speed). Although the entry level models have Scene & Auto modes, you won't get the best out of the camera if you just stick to these.

Start off with the kit lens (usually 18-55mm) & only buy other lenses as & when you need them. As for flash, all the models (except pro cameras) have an inbuilt flash with TTL (auto) flash metering which in most cases is ok. However, on camera flash is harsh & frontal - if you eventually branch into more professional work, you will almost certainly need an external speedlight flash.

What is a good compact point an shoot digital camera, for casual photography?

I know that digital cameras have come down in price over the years, an have many more features on them . I am still using a Nikon cool pix 4300, I would like it to have a digital zoom on it of at least 18 or 20 with nice features that would not cost me as much as a digital SLR. Am I asking something impossible during this holiday season in the 200 to 250 price range. An to update my aging Nikon which was a good camera in it's time, but I am sure there is something with more bells an whistles on the market in 2012.

Answer
The popular ones are canon powershot, sony cybershot and the nikon coolpix.

You should be looking at optical zoom rather than digital zoom.

I am interested in photography but I havent yet taken any good pictures recentl. Lately though I think that I should take some steps to improve on it.

What should I do to build up on my interest in photography? I have Canon Powershot S80 and my sister left me her EOS Rebel 2000 which I have no idea how to use since it requires real film in comparison of my basic knowledge only on operating digital cameras. Any ideas on how to get this baby up and running? [I have a specific question targetting this on on the photography forum]

Anyway, what steps would you suggest me to take in improving myself? Take classes? Join competitions? etc.. Please help me... :)

Answer
First of all, you have to have a passion for it in the first place. As long as you like something and put the time and effort into learning it, you will get better.

The first step you should take is getting into a class. I'm not sure how old you are but I started in my HS and took it all through college and now I work in the field.

You need to learn the basic skills or operating a film camera. That is a huge thing. I know digital is where it's at and that's how I shoot at the present time but it's never a bad thing to learn how to shoot film. It's a lot of fun to learn how to develop and print your own photographs.

BOOKS! you need them. you need a basic guide to photography which will include technique, composition, lighting.

It never hurts to enter a competition...but most of them cost money and if you don't feel you have the skill to compete it's a waste of money. get to reading some books and play with your camera. take it everywhere you go. take pictures of your family, friends, pets, neighbors, animals, nature, cityscapes. anything you see!

go to the bookstore and look through the history of photography as well. look up different photographers on the internet. the more you see, the better you will get. you just need the proper inspiration and there is no better way than to look at other people's art.

check out some of my photography too!

photozo.com is a good forum.

What is a good camera for a beginning photography class?

Isabeau

I am thinking of taking a photography class at my local community college. What is a good "starter" camera?
It has to be 35mm with f-stop and shutter controls.
I am completely clueless and don't know what those things are or where to look. I'd like to spend as little as possible.
Thank you!

Answer
I'm a Nikon guy so my answer might be a bit biased.

I'd recomend the D40, its $490 at Adorama, my favorite photo retailing site.

http://www.adorama.com/INKD40KSD.html?searchinfo=nikon%20D40%20outfit&item_no=4

That kit comes with the camera, a zoom lens, and a memory card, everything you need to start taking pictures. The camera has both f/stop and shutter controls, but isn't technically 35mm, its actually 24mm (if I remember correctly.) They aren't really any 'starter' 35mm digital cameras, you'd have to spend well over a thousand dollars for a 35mm digital. I'm sure your photo teacher just means it can't be a point and shoot. If he really means it has to be a 35mm film camera, then your choices are near limitless, but you're almost certainly going to be buying used.

The great thing about the Nikon (or Canon) system is that it can grow with you. If photography is something you get into you can buy new lenses and accessories to complement the camera you have, and when you want to get a new camera, it will work with the lenses you've already bought.

_________________________________________
Edit - It looks like the other responders are certain you really do need a film camera. If the class has anything related to developing and working in a darkroom then you definitely DO need a film camera.

I'd still recommend a Nikon, especially an older one. Nikon lenses are MUCH easier to find, just because in the company's ~50 year history of making SLRs the lens mount hasn't changed (though certain other things about lens compatibility have) whereas old Canon lenses don't work on new Canon camera and vice versa. I completely agree with the responder who recommended the FM-10, available here with a lens for less than $200 (used). http://www.adorama.com/US%20%20%20%20304835.html?searchinfo=nikon%20fm-10&item_no=4

Answer

What can I use to charge my videocam/digital camera/laptop in the Philippines?

kitkat

I'm traveling next week to the Philippines and I'm bringing my Sony DCR-SR42 handycam, Canon Powershot G6 camera and my laptop. I need to know what charger/power adapter to buy. Thanks!

Answer
Check the label on your power adapter. If it says 120 - 240v, then you should be good. Most wall outlets in the Philippines produce 240v and will blow the fuse or the whole device if it is not rated to support this capacity.

If your adapters do not support 240v, then you'll need a step-down transformer that allows you to plug it into a 240v outlet and produces 120v output. If you can't find one local to your area, you will find more availability in the Philippines.

If you need to charge multiple devices at once, you'll need to also bring or buy a power strip bar. Don't plug these directly into a 240v wall outlet unless it is rated to work for such capacity.

Unlike the typical plug interface in the U.S. with 2 parallel bars, some 240v outlets in the Philippines require a plug interface with 2 parallel round holes. Go to your local radio shack or equivalent to buy these accessories.

Good luck!
